**Description**:
This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $65,148 to $108,588.
**Location** - Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

**Working for the Vice Provost and Dean of Students (DoS)**
The Vice Provost and Dean of Students (DoS) is responsible for providing a number of specialized support services that help students achieve success and reach their academic potential. The Dean of Students’ supports all students on the university’s numerous campuses and so must employ creative strategies to meet the diverse needs of a large student population.
**Position**
Reporting to the Manager, Student Care Coordination and Accountability (SCC&A), the Lead, Student Care Coordination (LSCC) is responsible for the management, guidance and support of the Student Care Coordinator (SCC) team which provides front-line support to students. The LSCC leads a team of four SCCs who are responsible for assessing, responding, and addressing situations that can adversely impact the student’s success and experience, and the U of A community.
**Duties**
- Support students with complex non-academic issues impacting their academic pursuits by providing timely and coordinated services.
- Receive disclosures from students under the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Policy and the Student Conduct Policy, and provide them with reporting and support options, assist with requests for modifications and assist with implementing interim measures.
- Serve as an intake point for complaints and non-disciplinary accountability options under the Student Conduct Policy.
- Maintain student confidentiality, including verbal, electronic, and written documentation, outside of imminent risk.
- Provide coaching, debriefing, guidance and mentoring for cases that the SCCs are managing.
- Supervise, train and support the SCCs.
- Develop and implement strategies to create a positive environment, foster team building and teamwork.
- Manage leave and vacation times for the Student Care Coordinators
- Manage accurate case records, including concise and accurate documentation, and regular review of SCC case files to ensure cases are assigned and actions completed
- Prepare for quarterly case review of interim measures along with Manager SCC&A.
- Meet with campus partners as needed to support both students and SCCs in their work.
- Work collaboratively with management and senior leadership to communicate and implement directives in support of the DOS vision and the development of a cohesive portfolio.
- Participate in and support student life committee work, initiatives, and programming.
- Facilitate presentations on the SCC team as needed.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in a related field and at least three to five years of experience working in a complex and confidential environment; consideration may also be given to other combinations of education and experience.
- Two to three years human resources experience in hiring, managing, supervising, and mentoring staff, preferably in a unionized environment
- Extensive knowledge of sexual violence, trauma-informed care, suicide intervention, violence prevention, privacy legislation and university policies.
- Experience working with diverse populations including but not limited to LGBTQ2S+, Indigenous students, students with disabilities and International students.
- Knowledge and experience in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion or anti-racism.
- Ability to act appropriately as a multi-partial case manager.
