**Job Summary**

The Purchasing Specialist will foster strong relationships with vendor partners to create mutually beneficial partnerships. The Purchaser is responsible for all procurement activities, focusing on raw materials and consumables. This role ensures timely delivery by maintaining optimal inventory levels, putting in place supply agreements while upholding quality and regulatory standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Purchasing**
- Vendor Negotiations: Collaborate with vendors to negotiate the best quality with adequate performance ensure optimal pricing, quantities, delivery terms, to support the production team. Key Items; Corrugated Packaging, Film and Substrates, Manufacturing Consumables, General Items and Maintenance Parts-as required.
- Sourcing: Identify and secure products from local, national, and international suppliers, which includes container acquisition from offshore sources. Collaborate with Engineering to ensure supplier product offerings meet the technical aspects of the finished goods
- Supplier Audits: Conduct regular audits on existing and potential suppliers to maintain compliance with organizational and legislative standards.
- Budget Compliance: Analyze spending and evaluate KPIs to ensure procurement processes align with budgets and supplier agreements.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels to meet production requirements by focusing on delivery schedules to ensure adequate levels are maintained. In conjunction with Production Planning, utilize on hand materials where feasible to meet customer delivery expectations.
- Order Processing: Ensure timely execution of Purchase Orders ensuring accuracy and pertinent details to suppliers including delivery expectations.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain and utilize data to forecast material requirements to meet production demands.

**Quality Assurance**
- Compliance: Stay updated with Food Safety Programs and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), such as IFS PAC secure and HACCP, working with the technical department on new materials for food-safe packaging.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in cross-training and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through hands-on experience and research.

**Administration**
- Policy Development: Develop and uphold departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.
- Business Planning Support: Assist in preparing business plans and performance objectives as needed.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain organized and current files to ensure information accessibility for authorized personnel.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- **Education**: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- **Experience**: 3-5 years in a supply chain or procurement role, ideally in a fast-paced Plastic-CPG manufacturing setting.
- **Technical Skills**: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with NAVISION or MS Business Central is an asset.
- **Soft Skills**: Strong diplomatic and customer service skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Bilingual in French is an asset.
- **Interpersonal Skills**: Strong negotiation, persuasion, and networking abilities; ability to work independently and as a team player.
- **Industry Network**: Access to a relevant professional network preferred.
