**POSITION OVERVIEW**
The primary role of the Production Area Manager is to oversee specific aspects of production operations and warehouse and maximize operational, financial, and quality performance in a manner that achieves our annual goals. Measurements include but are not limited to positive results in production efficiency, performance, product quality, compliance with specifications, customer satisfaction, operational flexibility, and continuous improvement.
The Production Area Manager provides leadership to all employees within the facility in a manner that drives productivity, creates engagement, and maintains a safe work environment. As a key member of the operations management team, this role includes active participation in business planning, operations projects, and key initiatives, and developing positive cross-functional/plant interactions. On occasion, the position may provide backup for the Plant Manager
**KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS**
**Plant Operations**
- Oversee the effective implementation of operational plans. Includes organizing, deploying, and measuring quarterly, monthly, weekly, and day-to-day operations.
- Establish production goals, objectives and standards, and work towards their attainment.
- Develops and installs production compliance metrics to measure plant performance. i.e., Efficiency, yield, uptime, etc.
- Oversee and monitor operational budgets. Monitor expenditures to ensure effective cost containment and efficiencies. Ensure corrective plans are in place to correct negative variances.
- Ensure plant operations meet industry standards and company policies, regulatory requirements, standards, and goals in the areas of quality systems, manufacturing practices, process optimization, research and development, vendor approval, and customer technical support.
**Business Planning**
- Drives the alignment of our production processes towards maximum efficiency, customer service levels, inventory turn goals and capacity/utilization/staffing requirements.
- Assist in achieving target customer service levels and inventory turn levels based on forecast error and bias trends and manufacturing capacity/flexibility.
**Product Quality & Continuous Improvement**
- Assures product quality by practicing and enforcing certification (HACCP, GMPs, SQF, ISO, etc.) requirements in all aspects of plant production. As required, prepares for, and responds to audit requirements.
- Identify areas of improvement to reduce costs and improve yields.
- Collaborate with internal resources in planning and executing corporate projects impacting products, production facilities, processes, and/or equipment.
- Implements the correction of product problems and process deficiencies.
**Safe Work Environment**
- Ensure that a strong focus is maintained on the creation and maintenance of a respectful, safe, and healthy work environment for employees.
- Ensure safety standards, specifications, and policies are met or exceeded.
**Leadership & Human** **Resources**
- Develop and maintain a team-based work environment by providing leadership, direction, coaching, training, and clear and consistent communication.
- Identify, assemble, and manage human resources required to complete production processes within the plant. I.e., structure, performance development program, and/or employee relations. Consults with the Plant Manager as required.
- Identify and fulfill training needs including mandatory compliance training, maintenance of certifications, standard operating procedures, and new/revised processes/procedures.
- Works collaboratively and maintains essential communications with other company departments to achieve plant operational results. I.E. Quality Assurance, Warehousing, Maintenance, Finance/Purchasing, and Human Resources
