**Position Description**

**Key Purpose**

Coordinating and supporting the volunteer engagement, recruitment, retention, and recognition programs. Additionally, this role supports the overall life enrichment of residents and ensures alignment with the hospice’s values and goals.

**Reporting Relationship**

Reports to: Executive Director (ED)

**Key Responsibility Areas**

**1. Volunteer Engagement and Coordination**

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit, interview, screen, and onboard volunteers for various roles.
  • Provide comprehensive training and orientation to new volunteers.
  • Scheduling volunteers based on identified needs of team members and depts.

Leadership & Organization

  • Supervise, guide, and evaluate volunteer performance to ensure alignment with hospice goals and policies.
  • Oversee the Memorial Garden volunteer program, acting as a liaison with the City of Red Deer and managing memorial spot availability for families.
  • Lead, plan and support in house resident hospice initiatives

Recognition & Retention

  • Cultivate positive relationships with volunteers through ongoing communication and support.
  • Organize meaningful recognition events to honor volunteer contributions.
  • Develop strategies to enhance volunteer motivation and long-term retention.

Program Administration

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records.
  • Develop and enforce volunteer guidelines.
  • Report on volunteer activities and program outcomes.

Resident Life Enrichment Planning

  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to create meaningful activities that enhance the quality of life for hospice residents.
  • Incorporate resident and family feedback into programming to ensure relevance and engagement.

General Administration

  • Act as a liaison between staff, volunteers, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Support special projects and events as needed.
  • Uphold and promote the hospice’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions.

Perform other related duties as requested by the management team.

**Qualifications & Skills Required**

  • 2-3 years of volunteer coordination or program experience
  • Diploma and/or training in volunteer management or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience as a volunteer preferred
  • Ability to build and establish relationships with staff, community, residents and their families
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Highly self-motivated and community oriented
  • Superior organization and administrative skills
  • Compassion, stewardship, and a commitment to upholding the hospice’s mission and values.

**Working Conditions**

This position operates primarily onsite. You will be required to attend events and meetings in the community and work some evenings or weekends, depending on event schedules. Physical demands include mínimal lifting of event materials and setup.

Pay: $22.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
