Toronto, Canada Autodesk Full time

Position Overview The User Research team's mission is to inform and influence product decisions through rich insights about the behaviors and motivations of our users. As a co-op researcher, you will be paired with a senior research mentor who will support you in your research work. You will conduct exploratory as well as evaluative research through field visits, surveys, fast-cycle concept testing, usability evaluation, and more. Working closely with designers, product managers, and engineers, you'll advocate for our users and blend their needs with those of the complex world of construction. About Us: We're transforming the way buildings get built. We're shaking up the trillion dollar construction industry by creating the world's first mobile construction collaboration app. Autodesk replaces the headache of stacks of paper, costly mistakes and coordination nightmares with simple, beautiful tablet and smartphone solutions. More than 40 million blueprints are stored in our cloud, and our customers are adding 4,000 new projects every week. Autodesk is used on high-profile projects like SFMOMA, Levis Stadium, and CPMC Hospital on Van Ness. Construction is a complex, modular, and physical industry that shapes the world around us. On any given built-world project there are managers, contractors, laborers, engineers, designers, inspectors, and more who all need to coordinate and collaborate to complete the job at hand. It's a complex domain and our research team are critical translator-guides that ensure our success. Projects previous Research co-ops have worked on include: - Digging into the data and interviewing users to help guide product thoughtful decisions - Concept testing for new features - Exploratory research on construction processes - Advocating for accessibility patterns and support What past research co-ops say: "Research at Autodesk is the real deal. As an intern you’ll be plugged into a multidisciplinary product team and will be expected to observe, define, and carry out your own research projects to support team initiatives. I was incredibly impressed by the willingness of all my teammates to get involved and operate as a tight knit team aligning on research goals and directly integrating my studies into our design process. For me it was a great mix of challenging opportunities, impactful work, and dedicated mentorship to help build new skills and provide guidance when I slipped up. I found it very rewarding to see platform features hit the market knowing my research played a big role in shaping their form and function." "The mentorship I received at Autodesk helped me ensure that product teams ask the right questions to make sure my research was impactful. I also was pretty blown away at how serious they were about supporting my learning. I went into the internship wanting to learn more about mixed-methods research and my managers made sure to identify and carve out time for me to work on projects blending both qualitative and quantitative methods" Job Responsibilities - Develop impactful research studies designed to uncover new insights about users: design research plans, recruit participants, and conduct interviews with users. - Synthesize and communicate research findings to inform product decisions and build empathy across the organization - Partner closely with our data team to bring qualitative meaning to quantitative insights **Required Skills**: - Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related fields. - Curiosity in how things work and how people think - Systematic thinker and thoughtful communicator - High energy, a positive outlook, an entrepreneurial spirit and ready to take initiative. - Strong growth-mindset and eager to learn. - Excited to work closely with other researchers and cross-disciplinary partners.
