Reporting to the Public Works Assistant Manager the Foreman is responsible to assist in the planning, coordination and management of the Operations Department. This will include all municipal services through construction, maintenance, and repair of bridges, streets/roads, storm drains/culverts, and facilities.

**Responsibilities**

The successful incumbent will hold responsibility for the following function (but not limited to):

- Provide feedback and direction to staff members throughout the day regarding issues, updates, requirements and needs.
- In partnership with Public Works Manager(s) and the Fleet and Shop Manager schedule, organize and communicate to staff members any requirements, maintenance schedules, changing duties etc. as needed.
- In partnership with Public Works Manager(s) and the Fleet Shop Manager address employee performance issues.
- Conduct routine road inspections to ensure all standards are maintained and schedule required work on a priority basis.
- Review road conditions and make recommendations to the Public Works Manger(s) for road improvements beyond the scope of maintenance needs.
- Conduct and assist with on-the-job training in road maintenance methods, administration for personnel and recommend specific training requirements.
- Maintain a work environment that promotes staff participation, teamwork, and positive labour relations. Address customer requests for service considering health, safety, service levels, liability and cost implications.
- Assist with the coordination and overseeing work of external contractors. Communicate and implement County goals, objectives, budgets, and priorities. Provide leadership, strategic direction, and support to the Operations Department.
- Ensure policies, structures, systems, resources and management practices are in place and effectively meet operational objectives.
- Ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are being followed by all staff and contractors. Assists/Responsible for dealing with and resolving complaints involving the Operations department. Works closely with other County departments on various special projects.
- Performs other related duties important to the efficient operation of the department, as assigned by the Public Works Manager(s).

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 3 years transportation-related experience directly supervising staff. Experience Operating Equipment is an asset.
- Extensive experience in on-site problem solving and solution creation in the field of transportation maintenance and surface drainage.
- Experience in a rural municipality is preferred.
- Always possess a valid Alberta Driver's License during employment with Lac Ste. Anne County.

**Skills and Attributes**
- Experience working in a union environment is an asset.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of transportation maintenance.
- Ability to provide strong leadership and supervision in a fast-paced and dynamic environment by prioritizing, scheduling, based upon corporate goals and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to broad audiences.
- Proficient time management skills.
- Willingness to participate and complete required training initiatives.

**Salary**: $69,052.00-$81,860.00 per year
