The Coordinator Programs will play a significant role in supporting Confronting Anti-Black Racism (CABR) and equity-focused initiatives for the Toronto Shelter and Support Services (TSSS) Division and its community partners across the broader homelessness sector by working as part of a collaborative team to advance equity, supporting implementation of more inclusive policies and programs while addressing organizational and systemic challenges that affect equity-deserving groups.
Through effective coordination, delivery and stakeholder engagement with TSSS staff and its community partners, the Coordinator Programs will use an Anti-Black Racism (ABR) lens to support funded service providers with the implementation of strategies that address Anti-Black Racism.
**Major Responsibilities**:
Specifically, the Coordinator Programs will:
- Support the development of operational policies, programs, and service plans, in alignment with the Division's strategic and work plans, especially with respect to Division’s CABR engagement with community partners
- Lead the development of establishing formal partnerships with Black-serving non-profit organizations to strengthen the broader sector and Division
- Support TSSS staff capacity to engage in sector-wide confronting anti-Black racism initiatives that are connected with their role and scope
- Support staff engagement with community partners through identifying challenges and resourcing and/or creating resources and approaches to support divisional-community partner relationships
- Contribute to the development of divisional policies and programs that support increased collaboration across the sector in confronting anti-Black racism initiatives
- Monitor processes and programs to ensure effective implementation of an ABR lens in the Division’s engagement and work with community partners, including and exploring inter
- and intra-divisional working groups, and ensuring accurate data collection of program activities
- Build and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with divisional teams, inter-divisional partners and community partners to support confronting anti-Black racism initiatives for both TSSS staff and clients
- Assist with co-designing and implementing processes aligned with divisional priorities which aims to support sector’s confronting anti-Black racism goals
- Organize and coordinate information sessions, events, initiatives, and training sessions for division to enhance knowledge of how to incorporate an ABR lens in their engagement with community partners. Create divisional awareness of sector confronting anti-Black racism initiatives
- Lead community engagement, communication, relationship management and representation on stakeholder advisory groups with divisional and external communities, to build relationships among community partners and other members of the Black community
- Liaise and support the divisions work on the Black-led Shelter & B3 organization definition
- Work in collaboration with CABR Team and divisional leads to create a sector-specific resource list for additional CABR support
- Chair and organize the CABR Knowledge Exchange Table meetings and lead the development of communication and outreach materials for the Knowledge Exchange Table
- Develop and coordinate Knowledge Exchange Table consultations, as well as other community partnerships
- Contribute to reports and briefing materials for senior leadership from a CABR, equity and community partner engagement lens
- Prepare presentations and present to community partners, TSSS staff and Senior Management Team
- Monitor current issues and identify trends in homelessness, social work, social housing, mental health, addiction, community funding, municipal trends, policies, and related legislation that influence sector-wide implementation of confronting anti-Black racism initiatives
- Support with implementing culture change initiatives around engagement with community partners and change management across the division
- Take a leadership role in identifying and forming sustainable partnerships with black leaders and service providers, and act as a lead representative for TSSS
**Key Qualifications**:
- Post-Secondary education in a related field (e.g. Social Science, Social Work, Human Services, Policy Development, Community Development, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
