**Position Summary**
As a member of the Programs and Special Projects Team, the Programs Coordinator will be involved in supporting the day to day operations of multiple programs including the Sister2Sister series, SistersatthecentrE, the Social Justice Fellowship, and arts and youth programs. The Coordinator will support the program's development, implementation, delivery and evaluation. The Coordinator will also be responsible for programming outreach, recruiting program participants, registration and intake.
The Programs Coordinator will coordinate and carry out the administrative and logístical operations for multiple programs in accordance with the standards set out by the organization and its funders. The Coordinator will operate within and ensure team adherence to a Sustainable Livelihoods Framework: The framework focuses on understanding the context that creates and perpetuates a client’s vulnerability to poverty, to support more active, strategic interventions. It focuses on a client’s assets rather than deficits. Assets can range from access to the basics of food, finances, and shelter to social networks to individual skill and knowledge to self-confidence, self-esteem, and personal resilience.
This position will appeal to a team player who is skilled in program design, delivery and evaluation and multi-tasking in a fast-paced community-based social service agency with an emphasis on goal achievement and delivering customer-centric service.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Research potential outreach catchment areas and conduct environmental surveys to identify potential outreach opportunities in the community.
- Conduct outreach and partnership development with various community, businesses and
individual sponsors of refugees as part of client intake.
- Liaise with community and private partners and actively engage in outreach activities to
promote programs and recruit participants.
- Pre-screen clients for programs eligibility criteria.
- Assist the staff with providing presentations in the community organizations and special events, job fairs or information fairs.
- Conduct outreach for the purposes of engaging suitable mentors, coaches and activists to
provide support to mentees and programs participants.
- Assist with organizing social mentoring sessions such as interactive cafes with hands-on activities supported by pre-screened mentors.
- Screen, train and match mentors/mentees using established guidelines; conduct mentor/mentee orientation sessions.
- Maintain mentee/mentor records including referrals and matches.
- Build and maintain relationships with mentors to ensure repeat collaboration.
**PROGRAMS DEVELOPMENT**
- Gather qualitative and quantitative data/information on newcomer women settlement, integration and labour market outcomes.
- Utilize appropriate qualitative methods and tools (e.g. jurisdictional scans, case studies, literature reviews, surveys, consultations, etc.) to support and inform programs design and development, and other initiatives as directed by the Manager.
- Analyze and synthesize data and interpret research findings to draw conclusions to produce
diverse documents such as briefing materials, discussion documents, summaries, memos,
presentation materials, and proposals.
- Assist in developing curriculum based on the client’s needs.
**PROGRAMS COORDINATION**
- Conduct needs assessment and one-on-one counselling sessions to support clients enrolled in our programs.
- Develop and lead programs’ workshops, training sessions and presentations on life skills,
leadership, gender-based violence, women empowerment, and labour market information.
- Design and conduct surveys and program evaluations to measure program impact.
- Coordinate the development, distribution, collection, collation and analysis of participant
surveys and other evaluation methodology mid-way and at the completion of services.
- Keep all program statistical records, preparing reports on program progress and outcomes.
**Team Contributions and Expectations**
- Commit to the contribution of program targets and outcomes as defined by the funders and
uphold the organization’s mission/vision.
- Participate in training of new staff, practicum students and volunteers as required
- Attend workshops and training as recommended by NEW.
- Participate on committees as needed.
**Skills and Qualifications**
- Three (3) years of experience in project management. PMP is not required, but is an asset.
- Three (3) years of experience in program development, planning, coordination and evaluation.
- Three (3) years of experience in supporting proposal writing, conducting environmental scan, and literature reviews.
- Three (3) years of experience in designing evaluation tools including quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Demonstrate experience with equity data analysis.
- Knowledge of newcomer settlement and integration with a good understanding of challenges faced by prospective immigrants,
