**Community Engagement Specialist**

Permanent -Full Time

WIN House provides individuals and their children fleeing violence crisis response and intervention, safe temporary accommodation, and support for basic needs. Those seeking our services are offered trauma-informed, client-centered programming and support, access to resources, information, and referrals to community supports.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Community Engagement Specialist will play a crucial role in building and maintaining strong relationships with volunteers, external partners, and community stakeholders to support the organization's mission and enhance its community impact. By overseeing volunteer management, third-party events, and community outreach efforts, the specialist will contribute to the organization's growth and ensure effective engagement with diverse audiences.

The Community Engagement Specialist will:
1. Volunteer Management and Program Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer management program, including recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
- Coordinate and oversee volunteer activities, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for volunteers.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels with volunteers, providing ongoing support and recognition.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify volunteer needs and align them with organizational goals.
- Develop an ambassador program to empower dedicated volunteers and advocates, fostering long-term relationships and community involvement.

2. Third-Party Events and Portfolio Management
- Oversee the coordination and execution of third-party events, ensuring alignment with organizational values and mission.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive third-party toolkit, providing guidance and resources for external partners organizing events or campaigns on behalf of the organization.
- Manage and update the organization's CRM database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of third-party partnerships, events, and participants.
- Oversee the portfolio related to the AGLC, including managing raffles and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work towards long-term fund-raising goals in measurable ways and implement stewardship best practices for internal and external stakeholders.
- Good understanding of Canada Revenue Agency guidelines and gift processing requirements for tax receipting of charitable gifts is an asset.

3. Community Outreach and Relationship Building
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with community members, agencies, and stakeholders to support the organization's mission and objectives.
- Identify and pursue partnership opportunities within the community to enhance awareness and support for the organization.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging community needs, trends, and opportunities for collaboration.
- Plan and execute community outreach activities, such as presentations, workshops, and networking events, to raise awareness of the organization and its programs.
- An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy
- Ability to public speak and be a presence in the community.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, public relations, nonprofit management) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in volunteer management, including recruitment, training, and retention.
- Strong program development and implementation skills, with the ability to create and execute effective engagement strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to establish and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of CRM databases and experience in managing portfolios and events within a database system.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to third-party events and raffles is desirable.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities, with a track record of successful community engagement and partnership development.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the not-for-profit sector (donor relations, alumni relations, event management) or equivalent client-focused environment.

Standard hours of work are 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. from Monday to Thursday and from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. on Fridays. This position may require some evenings and weekend work, time will be flexed accordingly. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000 per year combined with a comprehensive extended health benefit package and pension plan.
