**Position Summary**

As an Estimator you will primarily lead the bidding, scheduling, and assigning of all costing of projects for operations, repairs, and new development of properties. The Estimator will be responsible for estimating projects and managing the success of cost budgeting. Your role is to ensure work and budgets are aligned for current properties and new properties. The Estimator will be required to communicate with management, Accounting Team, consultants, subcontractors, and trades to ensure timely quotes and work bids are obtained. You will be responsible for the necessary paperwork related to the responsibilities of the job, and ensuring the necessary items are to pass along to the Facilities Manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- Compose and organize bids for submission with supporting documents, including preparation of take-offs, and soliciting pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Work with residential, and commercial management to determine what projects to bid, providing input on construction and feasibility of work or project.
- In conjunction with the executive management, complete a final bid submission review and oversees the final tender document submission to the client.
- Work in tandem with Facility manager on a regular basis to answer questions as required.
- Prepare a project budget, schedule, and project execution plan and identify any potential risks to the Superintendent and Foreperson prior to the project starting and throughout its life cycle. Act in an advisory capacity to the site team when they have questions about the job.
- Raise potential issues and risks to Senior Management on a regular scheduled basis
- Analyze and Review contract details, scheduling, inform the owner and staff which subcontractors and suppliers will be used on the project, agree on monthly payment cut-off dates for submission of quantities with the outside party
- Get approval of all costs related to the job, ensuring appropriate cost coding in accordance with the budget and purchase orders from Executive Management
- On a reoccurring monthly basis review and perform a financial status as compared to budget, projecting costs to completion based upon knowledge of the job status regarding production and other relevant conditions which may result in either increased or decreased profit.
- Prepare quote for extras or changes in work requirements that includes time, materials, labour and premiums.
- Monitor and update the detailed cost budget for the project and distribute notify Senior management of revisions accordingly.
- Gather and summarize costing information for all or any change requests.
- All other duties as required.

**Education and Experience Requirements**:

- A degree in Financial or Civil Engineering or relevant diploma/degree is required.
- Experience as an Estimator, in the heavy civil sector is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet firm deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Project) as well as working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Read and analyze blueprints/building drawings.
- Ability to set budgets and project timelines.
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting experience.
- Must have a strong attitude towards safety and work within company policy and legal requirements for Health, Safety & Environment.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English.
