Position Summary
The Distribution Center Assistant fills orders, prepares pallets for shipping, arranges for pickup, and receives freight. The Distribution Center Assistant also interacts with Manchester Tank customers and manages inventory and orders through the ERP and other IT systems. In limited function, the Distribution Center Assistant may operate the DC while the DC Manager is out of the office with the appropriate authorizations in place.
**Essential duties and responsibilities**:
Responsible for shipping functions including, but not limited to reviewing, maintain, and confirming shipments daily via SHIP.C and mteShipper, call carriers to pick up customer orders, and SHIP.R for releasing shipments.
Running SOD15A and SOD15 reports (MAN and MAC) daily.
Running SHIP15 at start of shift to generate pick lists and match pick lists to customers PO’s.
Understands and reinforces safe distribution center practices regarding stacking inventory and operating various equipment including forklifts (and completing forklift daily inspection reports), stretch-wrap machines, dock levelers and any other equipment.
Must practice first in, first out with inventory and maintain proper placement of inventory in the Distribution Center.
Order entries (SO.N) and receive inbound freight (REC.A. REC12, and INV.RSET).
Loading and unloading trucks.
Responsible for generating master panning schedule and inventory management using MPSW14 and INVDTL11W.
Place sales orders and purchase orders for the plants to generate inventory replenishment.
Work with freight providers to maintain costs and to pick up product at various locations and deliver to the Tillsonburg distribution center.
Maintain various administrative tasks such as accounts payable and freight logs.
Customer service and inside sales responsibilities.
**Required (Basic) Qualifications**:
Ability to operate a Forklift
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Self-directed, self-motivated
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Must accept safe and environmentally responsible workplace practices
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a shared environment
**Preferred Qualifications**:
2-4 years’ of experience working in a warehouse setting
