**Position Overview: Backhoe Operator (Rubber tire)**

**Primary Responsibilities/Duties**:

- Handle and transport job materials within the work areas
- Safe operation of equipment and comply with all safety requirements of the job
- Identify, report, and correct hazards in a timely manner
- Carefully excavate near/around underground obstructions and utilities
- Reporting to Site Superintendent / Supervisor
- Pre-Operational Equipment Inspections on SiteDocs.
- General site labour as required

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Minimum 3 years heavy equipment operating experience in the utility/telecom industry
- Proficient loader/backhoe operating skills
- **Must have** a Valid Class 3 Drivers License with airbrakes
- Criminal Background Check as required for secure sites

**Preferred Qualifications/Assets**:

- Preferred five (5) years of experience in the utility/telecom industry
- Preferred Class 1 License w/ Air
- Travel to job sites as required (within and outside of city limits)
- Be a team player and work comfortably with a diverse group of people and a common goal
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with supervisors, peers, and clients
- Ability to think logically about work at hand and compare site conditions with project designs
- Detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections as appropriate
- Work in all weather conditions and various locations
- Work independently and be self-motivated
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, and lift 50 lbs
