**TransEd Valley line LRT is looking for a Procurement Specialist to join their team of rail professionals. Reporting to the Director of Finance the Procurement Specialist will be a** **unique individual with Administrative/Procurement work experience, who has strong organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills and who is extremely detail oriented. This individual will assist with various purchasing duties within the Procurement Team, which is responsible for the procurement of all the requirements of the Valley Line LRT East.**

**Who we are**

TransEd Valley Line LRT is the first piece of the Valley Line project in Edmonton. Connecting Millwoods to downtown Edmonton, the valley line allows commuters to go from the South East of Edmonton to anywhere the LRT stops.

**A typical day for the Procurement Specialist**:

- Preparation, sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and administration of purchase orders/contracts for the supply of goods and services.
- Communicating with inhouse functions, maintenance staff, storage, etc. for status of existing purchase orders and expedite deliveries as needed
- Identification of substitute materials, referring such decision to others (engineering) for approval
- Develop bid tabs for management to effectively choose suitable vendors
- Maintaining close contact with suppliers and continuously monitoring suppliers' performance
- Support in contract administration of any MSAs or TransEd external contractual agreements.
- Ensure competitive bid practices, relevant procurement laws and Code of Ethics are followed.
- Close monitoring of suppliers and respective markets to ensure delivery of material at the price, quality and timing required.
- Ensuring competitiveness by analyzing the market for alternative products, services and suppliers that meet the required specifications.
- Ensuring strict adherence to company procurement policies and procedures.
- Participating in regular audits of the procurement system, providing a continuous improvement viewpoint.
- Continuously reviewing and amending the procurement processes/procedures with any approved innovation and efficiencies supporting in contract administration for all agreements

**What you will bring to the team**
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in supply chain management, or production & operations management,
- Formal training and membership with Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), Supply Chain Canada (SCC) and/or Institute for Supply Management (ISM) **nice to haves
- Previous experience in purchasing, inventory management and/or logistics not less than four years
- Experience in contract negotiation
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation
- Partnership building, relationship management and collaboration skills to work effectively within the Team
- Strong computer knowledge Microsoft SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word and Excel, with specific experience in MRP I and[LK1] MRP II
- Verbal and written communication skills to prepare and present documentation, reports, proposals and briefing materials
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and present information in a simple and easily understood manner for a wide range of audiences
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, while demonstrating autonomy, organization, attention to detail, rigor and good judgment
