- Cleaners are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Hospital by following cleaning and sanitizing procedures, and by collecting, sorting and packaging all Hospital waste. The cleaner works as a member of the Hospital team to ensure that the physical environment is clean and tidy and that all persons who enter the facility are protected from exposure to contaminants and infectious agents.

- Minimum Grade 10; requires literacy skills to read, write, speak and follow written direction
- “Active Status” certification relevant to sterile room cleaning (on-the-job certification will be provided if necessary)
- Knowledge of proper disinfectant solutions, performing proper hand and forearm hygiene wearing appropriate clothing
- Removing all jewelry and makeup, including nail polish/false nails/false eyelashes and jewelry
- No chemicals in hair
- Must be free of any circumstance that could compromise the sterile preparation environment
- Valid G Driver’s License (or equivalent)
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member
- Ability to perform basic computer skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Must be capable of operating heavy cleaning equipment
- Must be able to work alone and/or in a team environment
- Required to lift, bend, reach, and carry in accordance with Physical Demands Analysis
- Must have the ability to develop harmonious relationships
- Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement
- Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset-
