Contract: Temporary - 12 months (maternity leave cover)
Hours: Monday - Thursday, 9am - 4:30pm (exact schedule can be flexible)
(Work outside of these hours may be required for meetings and events. Hours to be flexed
as required.)
Location: Primarily remote, ability to work onsite when desired, expectation to attend in-person
meetings as needed (locations will vary)
About Making Changes Association
Making Changes Association (MCA) is a community of women helping women through life’s stages and transitions by providing them with skills and resources to support their pursuit of meaningful work and educational opportunities. Our vision is to empower women so they can make meaningful contributions to the community. MCA opens doors to employment and education for women and teenage girls and helps them develop the confidence to step through these doors in the direction they desire.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Lead, Philanthropy, the Grants & Donor Relations Coordinator is an integral part of a committed, hardworking, and small team. The Grants & Donor Relations Coordinator has proven experience and success in grant research, proposal writing and relationship stewardship. They have general knowledge/experience in other areas including general fundraising, donor engagement and stewardship, and business development. The incumbent is a motivated and authentic relationship builder with the ability to engage prospective and current donors in the vital work of Making Changes Association.
As the Grants & Donor Relations Coordinator, key responsibilities include:
- Grant research, writing, reporting, and relationship stewardship
- Database Coordination
- Supporting Donor Relation/Engagement Activities
Role Details
Research & Grant Writing
- Oversee a comprehensive grants/funding calendar which includes qualified public and private foundations and granting prospects that align with organizational priorities.
- Maintain grants/funding calendar and ensure timely creation and submission of letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports.
Donor Relations
- Working closely with the Lead, Philanthropy, supports the implementation of a Donor Stewardship plan.
- Support the identification of prospects and seek out opportunities to grow and engage lapsed donors.
- Coordinate the issuing of tax receipts and other donation acknowledgements through our donor management system.
Database Coordination
- Support the implementation of a new donor database, integration of existing donor data, and building of processes and procedures.
- Support donor recognition, and work to ensure that that data is hygienic and being effectively captured in accordance with CRA guidelines.
Relationship Management and Engagement
- Support organizational annual fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives.
- Support the engagement and development of relationships with service clubs including but not limited to Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, Kinsmen Clubs, Optimist Clubs, etc.
- Attending events on behalf of MCA in support of funding opportunities.
- Collaborate as needed with Lead, Philanthropy, Executive Director and Program Managers to aid in identifying and providing support around corporate engagement opportunities including third-party fundraising initiatives.

Position Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing or Fund Development. Equivalencies considered.
- Extremely passionate about non-profit organizations, and in particular about serving and empowering women and teen girls to implement MCA’s mission.
- Experience in a fund development granting, proposal writing or donor stewardship role with proven results (in a non-profit organization, preferred)
- Superior written communication skills; ability to convey complex stories in compelling ways.
- Strong interpersonal skills; an ability to develop rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Project management, organization and prioritizing skills, and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously while being a collaborative and active team player.
- Experience with fundraising databases.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
