Fiber Team Manager

The **Fiber Team Manager** will be a hands-on manager, working in the field with the splicing team, with additional reporting and administrative responsibilities. This position will be supported by, and report to, the Owner/Operations Manager and Office Manager.

Central Telecom provides Fiber Optic splicing and testing services throughout Manitoba. The position will require local travel within Manitoba, with occasional overnight stays for specific projects or during peak busy season. A company vehicle will be provided.

This position requires someone who can think on their feet, problem solve, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Qualifications:

- **Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience** as a Fiber Splicer working in the telecommunications field in Manitoba, with outside of plant experience
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, team building, and supervision/management of other employees
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work for the team (in collaboration with the Operations Manager)
- Physically able to meet the demands of the position including ladder work, walking/climbing/kneeling/crouching, and working in confined spaces
- Knowledge of equipment calibration and testing
- Detail oriented
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Basic Computer (Word, Excel) and phone (use of messaging apps, taking and sharing photos) skills
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a good driving record
- Comfortable with highway driving (cube van)

Primary Responsibilities:

- Daily assignment of work to splicing team members
- Managing the training of junior splicers
- Ensuring that Daily Work Summaries for each Splicer are completed and submitted to the office (Operations Manager, and Office Manager)
- Preparing reports for the Operations Manager as required
- Daily communications with the Operations Manager
- Field work - splicing, testing, locating and troubleshooting
- Ensuring projects are completed correctly, addressing any errors, and meeting client deadlines
- Assisting in the development of the Fiber Operations manual
- Participate in any assigned safety training
- In collaboration with the Operations and Office Managers, follow and implement all workplace safety policies and procedures

Remuneration:

- Salary of $70 - $90K per annum, depending on experience and qualifications

- 3 weeks of vacation annually to start
- All travel expenses are paid including hotel and per diem
