**Job Title**: Nature Education Manager

**Reporting To**:VP, Programs

**Purpose**: To build and scale a nature education initiative across BC and Canada

**Overview**:
The BC Parks Foundation’s goal is to create the greatest system of parks and protected areas on earth. It has launched a 25x25 expedition with four objectives, including protecting 25% of land and waters, safeguarding biodiversity through 25 million observations of nature, helping people enjoy 25 safe and responsible park activities, and improving human health through British Columbians spending a minimum of 2.5 hours a week in nature.

The Foundation measures its success by meeting these mission targets, and by the number of supporters and resources (funds, volunteer hours, in-kind, etc.) generated for its mission. A key element of achieving its goals, objectives, and metrics is to make it possible for all British Columbians, especially equity deserving people, to experience time in parks, increasing their enjoyment, learning, health, and stewardship of nature. The Foundation makes it easy for all British Columbians to get outside, by providing resources and guides.

**Role Summary**:
**Main Responsibilities**
- Develop a phased plan to support the nature education initiative in collaboration with the VP, Strategic Relationships and VP, Programs. This will include the promotion of nature literacy by transforming school grounds to include outdoor learning spaces.
- Lead the roll-out of the program including identifying key partners, managing relationships, budget, and implementation plans, and report on progress to key stakeholders.
- Oversee and coordinate the internal and external resources necessary to implement and operate the program
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant partners, including government partners and vendors supporting the development of a Community of Practice.
- Hire as necessary and manage the Learning and Nature education team
- Work collaboratively to build relationships with school districts, school boards, parent advisory councils, teacher and research institutions
- Build a strategy and model that allows each component of the program and nature literacy generally to scale across BC.
- Report on program progress, including key metrics, to the internal team members and senior management, and external stakeholders as necessary.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 7 years experience in a similar or related position
- 2 or more years of people management experience
- Post-secondary education in Conservation, Education, or related.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Employment or experience in a similar position an asset
- Proven experience in building relationships and delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Experience working with school districts, school administration and/or teachers.
- Deep understanding of the BC school system and curriculum.
- Collaborative spirit

**Skills and experience considered an asset**:

- Fluency in a second language
- Prior non-profit experience

- This is a full-time position (40 hrs/week, Monday to Friday)
- The position will work a hybrid schedule of in person and work from home
