About the Company Wallace & Wallace is Winnipeg’s largest manufacturer and distributor of fence and perimeter security solutions as well Canada’s largest distributor of Clopay Overhead Doors. We are looking for an Operations Manager to take our Overhead door division to the next level. About the Role The Operations Manager will work alongside senior management to define and carry out the strategic direction of the Division. They will get up every morning determined to instill a culture that lives and breathes operational excellence, including delivering a customer experience that sets the industry standard.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead and coach a group of talented and dedicated people, helping them fulfil their potential and grow into strong leaders.
- Assist in the operational planning process, from articulating the division’s strategic vision through to plan development and implementation, ensuring all operations support the division’s goals.
- Instill a culture of continuous improvement, eliminate chaos and drama, and deliver on the division’s plan to drive significant process improvement.
- Ensure the right people are working on the right things at the right time by developing action plans that set clear expectations for productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
- Be the gatekeeper for good processes and the master at scheduling tasks, minimizing stress for all team members while meeting established timelines.
- Be the chief negotiator, peacekeeper, traffic cop and problem-solver, resolving conflicts, minimizing drama and coaching team members up.
- Establish a proactive approach in preventing bottlenecks, optimizing workloads, and working through customer issues to devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.
- Prepare and develop operating systems by determining product handling and storage requirements.
- Develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management and shipping.
**Qualification & Skills**:
- Demonstrated experience in leadership/management positions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to relate interpersonally and appropriately with different stakeholder groups such as management, staff, vendors and customers is a must.
- Highly organized and a strong problem solver with analytical ability.
- Ability to present and advocate for proposals, ideas and plans to senior leadership.
- Comfortable working with mínimal direct supervision and in an unstructured environment.
- Strong business acumen.
- Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite environment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities requiring flexibility, timely responsiveness and adaptability.
- Construction experience and/or post-secondary degree or diploma with a focus in Business Administration is an asset.
