Product & Inventory Specialist- Zone Captain

**Job Summary**:
The **Product & Inventory Specialist - Zone Captain** is responsible for overseeing all product within their assigned cooler zone, ensuring optimal organization, immaculate sanitation, temperature control, and inventory accuracy. This role focuses on maintaining proper product segregation by lot number and commodity, preventing cross-contamination (allergens, ethylene sensitive produce), and ensuring lanes are straight, clean, and efficiently stacked. The **Product & Inventory Specialist - Zone Captain** must proactively manage space to accommodate incoming product while adhering to food safety and quality standards. _**In summary the expectation is to own the assigned zone and all activity that happens within it.**_

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Product & Inventory Management**:

- Ensure all pallets are correctly placed by lot number, commodity, and quality standards
- Monitor and maintain proper temperature control for all products in the zone.
- Separate incompatible produce such as ethylene-sensitive items
- Verify product and pallet integrity, reporting any spoilage, damage, or misplacement
- **Organization & Space Optimization**:

- Maintain straight, uniform lanes (10 pallets deep) with clear access pathways
- Ensure stable, secure pallet placement
- Plan ahead to create space for next day receiving while minimizing reshuffling
- **Cleanliness & Safety**:

- Keep the cooler zone clean, free of debris, and organized at all times
- Remove all scrap strapping, cardboard and other packing materials that are not required
- Follow sanitation protocols to prevent contamination
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (FIFO, allergen separation)
- **Communication & Coordination**:

- Report inventory discrepancies, temperature issues, or space constraints to management
- Collaborate with receiving, picking, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations
- Provide updates on product status, space availability, and potential risks daily to management

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Experience in perishable inventory, warehousing, or cold storage preferred.
- Knowledge of fresh produce (ethylene sensitivity, lot tracking, temperature requirements)
