**Functional Rehabilitation Consultant**

**Job Description**:

- Assesses rehabilitation potential through file reviews and discussions with the member, health care professionals and disability management team.
- Arranges appropriate rehabilitative services and programs for members. This includes preparing service agreements, outlining the length of the prescribed service or program, associated costs and expectations/responsibilities of the service provider, member, OTIP and any other relevant stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal communication skills focused on developing and maintaining positive working relationships with members and all other key stakeholders. This includes exploring existing challenges, refining goals and implementing creative solutions. Also exercises tact and diplomacy to effectively resolve difficult situations.
- Prepares written reports detailing findings and making recommendations. Gathers information and prepares various reports and file documentation, including service provider agreements and return to work plans.
- Develops realistic and cost-effective rehabilitation and/or return-to-work plans. This includes actively managing the member’s recovery and progress in the program or plan, communicating with health care professionals, employers and union representatives to ensure there is an accurate understanding by all of the member’s level of function, medical restrictions and limitations and vocational requirements and accommodations.
- Maintains and when needed seeks out new rehabilitation resources to best coordinate services and assist members by identifying the most suitable regional programs and services.
- Works collaboratively with the claims teams and managers to implement appropriate functional rehabilitation services to augment and meet case management goals and timelines. This includes setting agreed upon short and long term goals and providing timely updates related the member’s progress in the rehab plans.
- Adheres to documented service standards and identifies opportunities for improvement. This includes detecting gaps in key processes, recommending solutions and implementing process improvements to achieve a higher level of quality service.
- Professionally represents OTIP and maintains confidentiality related to member’s file information.

**Qualifications**:

- A minimum of four to six years’ experience in a related field.
- R.R.P. and C.C.R.C. or the ability to obtain these designations would be an asset.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial laws pertinent to rehabilitation and employment.
- Knowledge of behavioral traits, assessment procedures and tools and counselling skills.
- Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities, including project management skills.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
