Join us as we grow our way into a future that reimagines what it means to deliver meaningful benefits support and service.Job DescriptionWhat You’ll Do:Reporting to the Manager of Group Life and Disability Claims, you’ll be responsible for making initial phone contact with members who have been off work due to medical reasons, and when applicable, facilitating and negotiating cost effective early interventions to assist a member back to work or to shorten the duration of a long term disability (LTD) claim..The core parts of your role will be: Initiates telephone contact with members who are off work due to medical reasons to determine if early intervention services could be of assistance.Establishes a rapport with members as this is usually their initial contact with OTIP, and provides an overview of the OTIP early intervention program and clarification about the LTD claims application process.Based on discussions with the members about the reasons they are off work, determines if any other intervention would be beneficial to their current treatment and/or assists with their potential to return to their pre-disability position. This may include a variety of different services and support varying in complexity.May include communicating with service providers, attending physicians, employers and affiliate representatives to ensure an accurate understanding of member’s vocational and medical needs.When appropriate, recommends appropriate services for members with external service providers, such as psychotherapy and physiotherapy. This includes defining the nature of these services and their policy limitations, clearly outlining the responsibilities of the service provider, member and insurance carrier, and communicating information and professional knowledge, as required.Maintains knowledge of resources to coordinate services and assist members in identifying appropriate interventions.Prepares and processes responses to routine correspondence in accordance with established department standards.Liaises with the Disability Analysts and Rehabilitation Consultants to facilitate treatment and/or return to work plans during the waiting period.Facilitates a better understanding of early intervention services and promotes the use of the early intervention program. This includes attending presentations and marketing meetings, as required.Accurately documents claim files and systems related to initial interview assessment, recommendations and individual early intervention outcomes. Performs other duties within competence, as assigned.QualificationsLet’s Talk About You: This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:A university degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Medical Rehabilitation or a related subject, or an allied health designation or equivalent certification.A minimum of five years’ experience in a related field.RRP or the ability to obtain this certification.Knowledge of federal and provincial laws pertinent to rehabilitation and employment.Knowledge of behavioral traits, assessments, counselling and accommodation protocol.Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities, including project management skills.The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.We also consider your potential.If you know you have what it takes to do the job, but your experience doesn’t exactly match the qualifications above, we encourage you to apply and provide us with more details about why you think you would be a great fit.Additional InformationSalary Range:This position offers a competitive salary within a range of $72,279 to $104,939, along with rewarding bonuses that recognize your dedication.At the OTIP Group of Companies (OGC), we value transparency and take multiple factors into account when determining your starting salary, including your skills, experience, and alignment with the role as well as internal equity, while positioning you for continued growth and recognition over time.Some of the Perks We Offer:We offer best-in-class pension and benefits, total reward programs and comprehensive mental wellness support to set you up for every success in and outside of work.
