As the **Customer Service Representative OR Medical Veterinary Receptionist** of our hospital you are the forefront of our business. As the first point of contact for our clients and employees your role is to set the tone of a welcoming environment for our patients and their owner’s.
You will be the hub of our hospital, ensuring the flow of communications to direct and assist workflow.

**Front Desk (Reception Duties)**
- Opening/Closing Hospital
- Use of AviMark Veterinary Software and MS Word and Excel
- Maintenance of the appointment scheduler
- Answering the telephone and directing calls accordingly
- Screening calls for the administration and professional staff
- Greeting clients and their pets
- Assuring excellent customer service
- Calling clients according to direction of DVM or the need for follow-up relative to appointments etc.
- Keeping front desk, waiting room, reception, examination rooms, and bathroom clean and tidy
- Answer client’s questions about care and service and to promote appointments accordingly and provide knowledgeable information regarding services, merchandise, food supplies and other non-medical items available at the Practice.
- Client education including, but not limited to, vaccine protocols, microchipping, preanesthetic blood work, prescription diets, and elective surgeries.
- Performing post-procedure discharge appointments with clients
**Skills & Qualifications**
- Diploma as an administrative assistant, medical office assistant.
- Previous experience working in a Veterinary hospital will be considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate ideas, express opinion and respond to team members in a professional and positive manner. Involves using an upbeat tone, displaying positive body language and actively listening and understanding the value of differing opinions and ideas.
- The ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Build positive client relationships through remaining calm in all circumstances, displaying a genuine care and compassion towards clients and their pets, being respectful and non-judgmental in all interactions and providing exceptional customer service.
- Models a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients.
- Commitment to ongoing educational development and growth.
- Must have active listening, critical thinking, complex problem solving, time management, judgement and problem-solving skills.
