**Group Facilitator Job Description**
**Position Summary**
Group Facilitators facilitate in-person and online group programming through the set-up and take-down of planned activities, supervision of clients, and facilitation of programming based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children and youth diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and related developmental disabilities in the center and community settings. Group Facilitators are responsible for collecting both individual and group data using cold-probe, frequency/rate, duration, and ABC data using both paper and electronic means under the guidance of a Lead Group Facilitator, Group Services Coordinator and the ABA Connections Clinical Team.
Group Facilitators will serve as a communication source, when appropriate, for parents by summarizing session activities, providing information on upcoming sessions and events, and directing questions and comments to the appropriate team members. In addition, Group Facilitators, under the supervision of Lead Group Facilitators and the Group Services Coordinator, will provide clinical input on client cases through the updating of client participation, progress and data.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
**Schedule and Attendance**
- Regularly work the agreed upon schedule at the time of hire
- Monday-Friday 2pm-7pm
- Consistently arrive on time and ready to begin work each shift
- Follow company policy with regards to scheduling time off
**Group Preparation**
- Review available information on Social Groups
- Review group goals pertaining to Social Group facilitation
- Review individualized goals pertaining to participants
- Prepare and organize the teaching environment and materials
- Ensure materials and equipment are in good working order and safe
**Program Implementation**
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
- Be familiar with group lesson plans and goals
- Facilitate each Social Group as outlined
- Record attendance at the beginning of each Social Group Session
- Assist with client personal care needs including, but not limited to: toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, etc.
- Ensure client safety at all times throughout group activities
- Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
- Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
- Utilize safe and appropriate handling and guidance procedures when working with clients.
**Collaboration, Consultation, and Communication**
- Collaborate with other team members
- Maintain regular communications with parents and family members as required
- Participate in scheduled team meetings and conferences as required
- Present information (both written and oral) sensitively and effectively
- Complete other tasks as assigned by a Lead Group Facilitator, Group Coordinator, Supervisor, or Director
- Display a high level of English proficiency, as teaching the English language is a key component of the job.
**Professional Responsibility**
- Adhere to policies and procedures of ABA Connections
- Facilitate day-to-day operations of the team by ensuring that all necessary paperwork, materials, scheduling, and documentation are up to date.
- Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to PIPEDA and PHIPA laws.
- Accept constructive feedback & develop knowledge & skills accordingly.
- Effective time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at one time
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members.
- Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
- Must maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing, grooming, hair, and make-up
**Professional Certifications**
- Possess and maintain valid Standard First Aid and CPR C certifications
- Provide and maintain a clear Police Record Check - Vulnerable Sector to be updated at minimum every 3 years of continuous employment, or at the request of the company
**Basic and Physical Requirements**
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift and carry clients with adaptive equipment.
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
- Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school, and community placements.
- Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
