**Position Summary**
As a Cultural Ambassador, you will share your Indigenous culture and perspectives through guided experiences—depending on your current skills could include dance, theatre, storytelling, craft workshops, tours, and on‑site programming—for school groups, corporate clients, tourists, festivals, and day visitors. This role demands flexibility, creativity, and excellence in guest engagement.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and/or participate in the delivery of on-site cultural programming, workshops and performances as booked by schools, tourism groups and corporate groups at Madahoki Farm.
- Be part of the Indigenous Experiences Outreach Performance Team. This may include some special shows at schools, museums, corporate events or festivals as required over the season and can include performances in dance, theatre, cultural and artistic workshops.
- Deliver programming to a large audience, often using a microphone.
- Facilitate workshops that blend cultural teachings with creative activities.
- Welcome guests upon arrival and be their point of contact for the duration of the program.
- Ensuring that all program activation spaces are clean and properly set up for guest experience in advance of their arrival.
- Learn and adapt existing scripts; enrich them with your own cultural knowledge.
- Operates and/or maintains artifacts, equipment, technology, and records used in delivering interpretive cultural programs.
- Support the preparation of kits and materials as required for the delivery of future workshops (making/stocking craft kits, ordering supplies).
- Perform work in accordance with the Health & Safety regulations.
**Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications**
- Must identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) with lived experience and knowledge of traditional teachings, language, and Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
- Prior experience in cultural presentation, workshop facilitation, performance, or interpretation.
- Familiarity with Heritage Interpreter practices (e.g. knowledge of storytelling, script adaptation, audience engagement).
- Service Excellence or First Host certificate would be an asset, and can be provided.
- Some level of cultural knowledge. Skills can include; pow wow dance, signing, craft making, land based teachings.
**Skills & Abilities**
- Fluency in English is required, ability to speak another language (indigenous/French) an asset.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and customer relations and service skills.
- High degree of comfort speaking to and presenting to large and small groups of people from various cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to work under a great deal of pressure and timelines.
- Ability to think on your feet when the unexpected happens to ensure a smooth and seamless delivery of service or performance.
- Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work as a team player and share knowledge, celebrate team and individual success.
- Must be flexible and adaptable and embrace continuous learning and change.
- Self-motivated and the ability to influence and positively motivate others.
- Be prepared to work in all weather conditions as performance may be indoors or outdoors.
- Be flexible for last minute changes in timing and programming schedule.
- Must have reliable transportation as we are not on a bus route
- Must be available evenings and weekends. Willing to work long and/or extended hours.
**Employment Type**: Part-Time / Full‑Time (including evenings & weekends)
**Location**: Ottawa - Mādahòkì Farm, and Off-site locations around the Ottawa area
**Pay**: $22.18-$25.09 per hour + performance bonuses for dance, drum.
