Shipping Coordinator

**SUMMARY**:
Some flexibility is required during our peak periods to workdays or afternoons and potentially Monday to Saturday, as required to support distribution mandates.

**RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES**:
**1. Plan, organize and execute all freight/shipping operations**
- Complete pre-planning prior to the upcoming shipping week
- Create a dispatch plan for the upcoming ship week. Organize and maintain trailer and truck fleet (e.g. inventory, maintenance checks)
- Building order lists, labelling, routing, cubing and dividing throughout the days of the week
- Coordinate loads with drivers, carrier dispatchers and other personnel directly affected by shipping
- Ensure all customer deadlines and requests are met and performs quality control on racks and packaging to prevent product damages
- Adjust dispatch plan(s) if required to meet the requests of customers as well as transfer divisional requests where it is economically possible
- Monitor and manage rack inventory. Ensure all carriers/drivers are recovering racks when required
- Ensure docking areas are maintained and cleaned thoroughly.

**2. Understand all costs associated with the shipping week**
- Rental and lease equipment
- Carriers and direct freight cost
- Create Load Cost Confirmations to be given to the carriers as a record for what they are agreeing to complete the run ford river time/hours and hourly rates, fuel, budget load costs and record on dispatch

**3. **Communicate the shipping /delivery plan with the appropriate BTN employees

**4. **Ensure all delivery appointments and customer/vendor communications have been made prior to shipping

**5**. Act as a liaison between the customer and drivers/carriers

**6. **Notify supervisor when problems arise, or deadlines are not met

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Work, Outlook)
- Fast decision-making skills to resolve time-critical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Thorough understanding of both BTN policies as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of highway trucking and the associated rules and regulations.
- Understanding French is an asset but not required.

- All BTN farm staff should expect to be physically involved in any farm operations at any point.
- During peak season (April/May and November) staff are expected to work longer hours as well as weekend work.
- Alternate shift schedule - mornings, afternoons or evenings

**Education & Experience**
- High school Diploma Required
- Post Secondary preferred
- 3+ years of industry experience in a 'Load Broker' Position is preferred
- Load Link experience preferred

**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
