The Opportunity
The Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability Manager will support and further initiatives to transform our products, rethink resources, empower our people, and partner for success while laying sustainability foundations for the future.
- Provide Support to 2 Manufacturing plants, 2 Distribution Centers, and Corporate Office
- Partner with local site leaders to develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and practices that address health and safety risks in their respective areas and align with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures, and regularly review and assess existing policies to ensure continuous improvement in safety standards
- Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions while maintaining thorough records of all events and their resolutions
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents to management and relevant authorities
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety policies, practices and programs
- Stay current on national and provincial/state-level health and safety regulations in Canada and the USA
- Prepare and present regular reports on key performance indicators and progress towards health and safety goals
- Effectively communicate health and safety policies and updates to employees, management, and relevant stakeholders and foster a culture of safety awareness and responsibility throughout the organization
- Develop and implement strategies that create “safety engagement” among employees and the Plant Management team
- Collaborate with the team on the development and maintenance of continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate sustainability principles into business operations and decision-making processes
- Facilitate the collection and prioritization of sustainability project and initiative ideas; drive and report on the status and progress of implementation project
- Partner on and support sustainability actions with global peers as required
- Conduct thorough assessments of the organization's environmental impact, identifying key areas for improvement and resource efficiency
- Implement initiatives to reduce waste, energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and community partners, to promote awareness and collaboration and foster a culture of sustainability responsibility throughout the organization
- Stay abreast of local, national, and international environmental regulations to ensure organizational compliance and identify new opportunities
- Develop and deliver sustainability training and awareness programs to employees at all levels
- Collect and analyze relevant data, and prepare regular reports for leadership, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to communicate progress on sustainability performance and initiatives

Must have the ability to work well with others with little supervision. Must be self-motivated, with high energy, an engaging level of enthusiasm, and tremendous integrity and work ethic. Ability to utilize Lean tools to continually improve processes. Must perform all job duties in a safe manner, adhering to the safety rules, regulations, and standards of Glen Dimplex Americas.
