**Gender Based Violence (GBV) Counsellor/Healing Program Coordinator**

Huron Women’s Shelter (HWS) uses a gender-based analysis (GBA+) trauma and violence informed framework to deliver prevention, education, crisis support and healing programs to women and their families who have been impacted by GBV in rural Huron County.

**Job Purpose**

Reporting to the Manager of Programs, the GBV Counsellor/Healing Program Coordinator provides therapeutic, individual and group counselling and support, creating a safe and welcoming environment for women+ to heal.

**Scope and Responsibilities**

The GBV Counsellor/Healing Program Coordinator provides 1:1, psycho education and therapeutic counselling sessions for women+ who have been impacted by GBV. (0.5 fte)

The GBV Counsellor/Healing Program Coordinator works closely supports the Children’s Program team to serve women and children in our residential and community programs who have been impacted by GBV. Provides case consultation to the Children’s advocate and coordinates caregiver support in alignment with services being provided to children. (0.5 fte)

**What you bring to the Role**

You possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to facilitate courageous conversations. You posses a strong GBA+ background and experience in providing trauma and violence informed care. You are experienced in developing, coordinating and facilitating group programming and providing therapeutic counselling to women+ impacted by GBV.

**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate Degree in Social Work or Counselling, Masters Degree considered an asset.
- Training and/or education in Child and Youth Work related to GBV.
- Minimum of 2 years of counselling experience in GBV.
- Registration and in good standing with an appropriate College (i.e. OCSWSSW, CRPO).
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with high attention to detail and computer proficiency.
- Valid driver’s license; access to a reliable vehicle and proof of adequate insurance.
- Clean driver’s abstract; clear current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- CPR and First Aid Level C Certificate (ASIST, CPI an asset).

**Location and Hours of Work**

This is a full-time position at 35 hours a week, working from our offices located at in Goderich ON., and will be required to work some evenings and weekends dependent on program activities.

Pay: $27.00-$33.00 per hour
