About the Role
We’re looking for a Bilingual Copywriter to join our team The Bilingual Copywriter will be responsible for ensuring all English customer-facing content is adapted properly to the Canadian French language, is on-brand and works across all channels, in digital and print. The translated work must adhere to the corporate brand and communication style guidelines. The Bilingual Copywriter will also provide writing, editing, copyediting and proofreading assistance as part of the wider communications function at the Ontario Cannabis Store.
About Your Day
- Adapt English content to French language while ensuring it remains on-brand and skillfully written, helping the OCS’s brand story across all consumer-facing channels
- Translate, edit and proofread various English and French consumer and customer facing content while adhering to brand and voice
- Contribute to and implement evolving brand style guidelines
- Support in bringing the marketing content plan to fruition and adapting all content to the French language
- Develop, write, copy edit, and fact check various English content as needed
- Liaise with Legal and Regulatory Compliance to ensure all customer-facing content adheres to the Cannabis Act and OCRC guidelines
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality content on time
- Manage French translations for all content and provide support for French channels
- Establish processes to continually optimize messaging and copy translations and approvals.
- Collaborate closely with other copywriter(s), content manager and graphic designer(s) to transform brand ethos into compelling and consumer-friendly communication
- Conceptualize and pitch creative content ideas for all OCS channels
- Ensure content is accurate, appropriate, timely, properly referenced and consistent and adheres to OCS brand and voice

About You
- Post-secondary in English or French, Journalism or communications in a related field
- 2-3 years’ experience in an agency or in-house marketing or related team as a copywriter in French or English
- Experience coordinating with multiple teams to create copy adhering to company values, brand and voice
- A keen eye for detail and experience in copy editing
- Marketing communications or related experience
- Fluency in both Canadian French and English (written and spoken) and expertise in adapting English content to Canadian French
- Certification in French translation or Certificate in French language proficiency
- Certification in ‘Copywriting for Advertising’ is preferred
- Ability to work confidently in a collaborative environment
- Ability to be flexible, highly organized and manage time effectively
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize and project manage a demanding workload in a pressurized environment and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal communication, presentation and networking
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge and experience with accessibility compliance as per the AODA is preferred
- Experience with eCommerce or online retail copywriting is an asset
- Thorough understanding of the cannabis industry is preferred

About the Job
- This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in office requirement is a minimum of 3 days/week (may be more depending on business needs). The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.
