**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Chair, Geography and Environmental Studies, and managed by the Associate Director of the Geomatics and Cartographic Research Centre (GCRC), the incumbent is responsible for the provision of bilingual pre
- and post-award administrative support to the Centre, senior researchers, and research project staff.
The incumbent supports the development of research proposal submissions, working closely with GCRC researchers and the staff in the Carleton Office for Research Initiatives and Services (CORIS), to meet reporting deadlines and ensure that submissions are completed appropriately. The incumbent is responsible for all activities related to the administration of research grants including budget tracking and planning, travel, payroll, ordering of supplies and services in accordance with Carleton and granting agency financial policies, procedures, and guidelines. They will also provide hands-on service to GCRC research staff in processing research expenses in the various Carleton financial systems.
The incumbent arranges and tracks all payroll submissions, including submissions to the Graduate Requisition Payment System, Online Payroll Profile, and completing other relevant templates and forms (i.e., payroll documents, compliant employment agreements, in-kind attestations, etc.); and navigating human resource policies and practices with regards to hiring research staff.
Contributing to the smooth operation of the GCRC, the incumbent acts as liaison with various administrative offices, arranging meetings and appointments, composing routine correspondence, development of administrative reports and taking minutes at various meetings. General duties include office reception, preparing and coordinating incoming and outgoing correspondence and deliveries, assisting Centre staff with their administrative needs, ordering and maintaining supplies and services, maintaining filing systems (electronic and hard copies).

- The incumbent must be a highly motivated individual who can take initiative, work both independently and collaborative, and take on a variety of tasks as a member of a small team.
- The incumbent must possess excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and balance projects with tight, short and/or far-off deadlines to be able to effectively manage the demands of the role.
- The incumbent must able to work with a variety of academic, community and practitioner partners to develop relationships and achieve knowledge translation and dissemination goals appropriately as a representative of the Centre and the Centre’s research team.
- The incumbent must have the ability to pay meticulous attention to detail to produce consistently high quality and trustworthy work.
- The incumbent must have knowledge of website design and development as well as social media platforms used in this role.
- The incumbent requires exceptional communication, organization and inter-personal skills, along with creative problem-solving abilities are required in order to satisfactorily fulfill the duties of this position.
- Training must be completed and maintained as required by the University, e.g., AODA, COVID-19, Violence/Harassment in the Workplace, etc. The incumbent must be willing to take part in various skill maintenance and skill acquisition workshops to remain effective in meeting job requirements.

- Completion of four-year honours degree from an accredited university. Must have excellent written and oral competency in both English and French. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- A minimum of three years’ experience, preferably in a post-secondary research/university administrative environment in progressively more responsible administrative roles. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
