Saskatoon, Canada University of Saskatchewan Full time

**Research Manager, Waniska**:
**Primary Purpose**: The Waniska Research Manager is expected to be a visionary leader who represents Waniska to the public and its stakeholders. Reporting to the Principal Investigator(s), the Research Manager will lead the management and coordination of research activities related to the Waniska Indigenous Centre on HIV/HCV/STBBI Inequities, focused in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This person will elucidate program objectives and evaluation processes, develop reports, assist with educational sessions and workshops, as well as facilitate grant development and implementation furthering the Centre goals. The Research Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day work and supervision of all project staff.

**Nature of Work**: The Waniska Indigenous Centre is an interprovincial (Saskatchewan and Manitoba), interdisciplinary research and knowledge translation centre that aims to address inequities in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C virus (HCV) and sexually transmitted blood-borne infection (STBBI) rates in Indigenous populations. The Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) funds the Centre for HIV/AIDS, HCV, and STBBBI from a research grant. The Waniska Indigenous Centre is Indigenous-led and focused on four cores around which all activities are oriented: 1) community engagement/partnership to address HIV/HCV/STBBI inequities; 2) curricular innovations to develop and integrate Indigenous content, frameworks and methods into health professional education around HIV/HCV/STBBI; and 3) mentorship/training opportunities for health researchers and health professionals, bridging capacity to practice cultural competence and responsiveness, engage ethically and recognize intersectional issues within Indigenous health. Waniska is a Cree and Saulteaux word that means “wake up, arise.” It is a concept filled with optimism for the new day in a time where colonially introduced Indigenous health determinants and outcome inequities no longer exist. As a valued member of Pewaseskwan (the Indigenous Wellness Research Group), the Research Manager will build and maintain professional relationships to work collaboratively with community and university stakeholders, research staff and faculty as well as independently manage the smooth, effective and efficient coordination of projects related to the Centre. The Research Manager will play a key role in developing written materials related to research proposals and projects as well as in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and initiatives.
