We are a well-established, private family-owned, Canadian wholesale distributor, proudly entering its third generation of ownership with a history of long-term employee retention. Our Head office is located in NE Calgary with four branches located across Canada.
We are seeking a mature, reliable, experienced, and hardworking Controller to lead our financial operations and provide stability during this pivotal time. This is a full-time “hands-on” in office position. As a member of senior management, you will report directly to the President and existing Controller (during an exit period). You will begin by learning our current ERP system and gain a solid understanding of overall company operations. From there you will implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reporting while gradually assuming increased responsibilities and duties leading to full Controller accountability.

On-site parking**QUALIFICATIONS**:_
- Professional CPA designation, with a minimum of 5 - 7 years post designation experience including three years in a leadership capacity
- Strong working knowledge GAAP, financial reporting and fundamental accounting & bookkeeping
- Experience and understanding of enterprise systems (ERP, SAP, etc.)
- Advanced computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel (pivot tables), Word and Outlook
- Excellent English in all aspects, oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with payroll and human resources
- Experience in maintaining relationships with all external parties, accountants, legal, bank, vendors, customers
- Knowledge and experience with managing cashflow and FX (spot & hedging)
- Experience and understanding of associated companies and intercompany accounting
- CBSA - CARM and mandatory import regulations would be an asset
- Experience in wholesale distribution/import industry would be an asset

- Confidently presents ideas in various formats for internal, external and group presentation
- **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:_
- Execute, manage and oversee accurate and timely handling of all daily aspects of financial and accounting operations for A/R, A/P, Billing, Inventory, Banking, Payroll and General Ledger.
- Manage all weekly, monthly and yearend close procedures, includes working closely with branch managers and senior management to ensure all yearend inventory counts are accurate, complete and in compliance with procedures.
- Key steward of all aspects of internal control including all modules of the company enterprise system
- Perform and/or manage all banking requirements, monitoring FX rates, purchasing USD, managing cashflow, timely transfer of funds, perform bank reconciliations and fulfill all bank reporting in accordance with facility terms.
- Perform and provide HR generalist advice and policy management across the organization and branches
- File compliance reporting requirements; Tax (corporate/sales), WCB equivalents, CARM, CBSA, etc.
- Work with senior management to establish/renew commission contracts. Provide approved reporting and other reporting to outside sales staff, branch managers and senior management.
- Provide support, mentoring and training to succession management and staff in general
- Demonstrate desire to contribute to the strategic and financial success of the organization
- Help modernize systems and processes as needed for continued growth and succession
- Provide financial analysis to support business decisions and operational improvements
