The Opportunity
The successful applicant for this opportunity is an organized, detail-orientated individual who can work in a fast-paced distribution team environment with proven problem-solving skills. You will provide support to the department supervisor with daily tasks, safety protocols and training.
**In this role you will**:
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all outbound shipments and Inbound receiving
- Prepares and maintains all shipping paperwork as well as completes shipping transactions in appropriate systems; corrects any system or paperwork errors.
- Schedule transportation methods based on customer demands and request rate quotes
- Schedule container appointments for Inbound receiving
- Investigate customer shipping/delivery issues
- Review all competed picking lists to ensure accuracy
- Drive compliance with health and safety measures
- Order warehouse supplies (i.e., Pallets, cartons)
- Communicate with carriers/customers for order pick-up
- Investigate and resolve issues with RF scanners
- Update orders in system with freight information (tracking numbers/carrier/weight)
- Create courier shipping labels online when necessary
- Support department Supervisor with key distribution functions
- Train new hires with support of department Supervisor
- Handles administrative functions such as filing, archiving
- Other duties as requested
What You Need
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years experience in a high volume, fast-paced distribution environment
- Prior Outbound shipping experience is required with experience creating shipping documents
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Professional communication both verbal and in writing
- Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must have very strong customer service orientation with high sense of urgency in meeting objectives and deadlines
- Occasionally lifts, carries, positions, or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally works overtime
- Experience in use of personal computers and related programs (Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- RF Scanner experience considered an asset
- Previous experience working with SAP systems considered an asset
