The Saskatchewan First Nations Family and Community Institute Inc. Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Human Resources Consultant is responsible for the analysis, development and writing of policies, procedures, and best practices for SFNFCI. This position will also oversee recruitment and selection and analyze Human Resource metrics and benchmarking for new employee orientation and performance management. In addition to keeping current with the applicable laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established policies and procedures of SFNCFI. The Human Resource Consultant will have excellent communication skills and will maintain positive relationships between the management team and employees.
**Education**
- A university degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Labour Relations or related disciplinary.
- CHRP designation considered an asset.
**Experience**
Three (3-5) years Human Resource experience demonstrating working knowledge in:
- Labour Relations, Sask and Federal Labour Standards.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects at the same time with superb accuracy.
- Multicultural beliefs, values, and perspectives with particular emphasis on First Nations and Metis cultural understandings.
Awareness and knowledge of:
- Issues surrounding the challenges faced by First Nations children, youth and families in Saskatchewan.
- First Nations programs and service standards, practice, policies, and procedures in urban and rural First Nations settings including but are not limited to group homes, prevention, boards, youth shelters, income assistance and caregivers.
- First Nations cultural understandings and protocols.
**Conditions of Employment**
- Subject to a Criminal Record Check,
- Valid Driver’s license as a condition of employment along with a 5-year Drivers Abstract.
**Working Conditions**
- Regular Travel may be required.
- Some non-standard hours (evenings and weekends) may be required.
- May be exposed to emotionally sensitive material and in some cases trauma related content.

**General Duties**
**Human Resource Consultation**
- Assist with the coordination and the delivery of the human resource activities in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of SFNFCI.
- Ensure the human resource department operates within the policies and procedures of the Institute and comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
- Assist with the planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating personnel strategies including policies, programs, and procedures to address SFMNFCI human resource requirements.
- Develop and manage recruitment procedures, job posting, advertisements and interview tools.
- Conduct Personnel File Audits to ensure the proper documentation is captured for each employee.
- Assist with the recommendation of new policies and procedure to effect company improvements and organizational effectiveness such as the development and writing of policies and reports.
- Develop, design, and continually evaluate the HR orientation for new employees using a 30-60-90-day model and beyond to probationary and annual review processes.
- Benchmarking and measuring effectiveness of HR processes.
- Research and prepare best practice analysis for a variety of human resource functions.
