**Purpose of the Job**
The Mortgage Agent/Broker must ensure all financial transactions and loan processing are handled within the outlined service levels, document and maintain procedures, and ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
**Main Activities**
- Assessing and educating clients on the financial position and about their legal and financial options include explaining legal disclosures, reviewing the client's budget and helping the client fill out and understand all the necessary paperwork.
- Finding out the ideal mortgage rate to accomplish their goals and developing relationships with various real estate companies and other local sources, in order to find and meet the needs of potential clients.
- Understanding the client's financial circumstances, credit history and affordability, in order to find their ideal match and assisting the client with obtaining pre-approval for a mortgage loan.
- Negotiating with banks and direct lenders in order to find the best loan for the client's situation.
- Previous experience with the mortgage industry, preferably through previous employment as a mortgage advisor, business development and consultative sales officer.
- Underwriting the files
**Knowledge/Skill Requirements**
- Completion of a post-secondary degree commerce/finance related field or comparable mortgage related experience
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Strong written and verbal business communication skills
- Sound understanding of risk management
- Ability to thrive autonomously without daily supervisory oversight
- Forward planning and strategist mindset
- Sound multi-tasking skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Proven ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment and to perform well in a high volume, high intensity environment
- Results oriented, uses open communication and collaboration to solve problems and manage deliverables
- Self-motivated, confident and capable of working both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to establish and build on healthy working relationships with the team and peers
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office
- Strong knowledge of Filogix
- Knowledge of underwriting the files
