The **Accounting Coordinator** is responsible for the provision of accounting and financial services to COHO and its clients, assisting COHO staff in the preparation of accounting data and the delivery of financial services to both COHO clients and COHO itself, overseeing of the work of accounting administrative assistants and other related assignments. The Accounting Coordinator will liaise with the COHO Operations team to ensure accounting matters are complete.

**KNOWLEDGE**
- Post-secondary diploma in accounting or equivalent work experience
- Enrollment in an accredited accounting program an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of directly related accounting, bookkeeping or budgeting experience
- Knowledge of the Co-operative Association Act of BC preferred but not required
- Knowledge of an industry recognized accounting program to process Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and general journal entries.
- Experienced in the Microsoft Suite of Applications
- Experience in financial reporting for property management is a strong asset

**SKILLS**
- Experienced computer user, esp. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
- Experience using SAGE 300, or any Property Management software, is a very strong asset for this position
- Effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent writing, proof-reading and presentation skills

**ABILITIES**
- Ability to take initiative, make independent judgement/decisions
- Customer service oriented with the ability to create a positive impression of the department
- Ability to communicate well with a variety of people including excellent written and interpersonal skills necessary for achieving goals and resolving conflicts
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues and clients
- Must be analytical, well-organized, and have the ability to switch tasks quickly
- Advanced ability to effectively communicate in both a verbal and written manner
- Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions
- Ability to plan, direct and review the work of others

**OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS**

1. Travel is required at times

2. Ability to attend evening events both on the mainland and on Vancouver Island is mandatory

3. Ability to meet intensive and changing deadlines

4. Ability to interact with board members and staff from external accounting agencies

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**

The average work week at COHO is 35 hours over 5 days. This position is hired at 40 hours per week to recognize the increased demands of the accounting department. This position requires flexibility to work outside of regular office hours (i.e. evenings) when necessary.

Accounting staff at COHO currently work remotely, and are required to go into the office for meetings and as required.

Pay: $32.00-$37.28 per hour
