The _Dyna_**LIFE **Microbiology department operates 24/7 in order to provide quality service to acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, community physicians and regional clients from Central Alberta through remote and rural communities in Northern Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Microbiology partners with our clients to play a key role in training, antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control. The Medical Laboratory Assistant I is primarily responsible for assisting with clerical, supporting lab operational duties and working collaboratively with the Microbiology team.

**Major Functions and Responsibilities**
- Carries out clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing and laminating for Microbiology staff.
- Label and record the storage boxes and send out for storage.
- Performs routine departmental housekeeping keeping all areas clear and free of clutter.
- Performs maintenance on all equipment used in performance of duties.
- Operates autoclave for sterilization of supplies, reagents.
- Performs and documents equipment maintenance and general housekeeping duties.
- Understands and follows current laboratory policies and procedures including company safety procedures.

Required Experience

- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and basic laboratory standards and procedures is an asset.
- Strong data entry and computer skills.
- Experience working with a laboratory environment is an asset.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- High School Diploma
