**SUMMARY**
The **Energy and Sustainability Manager**is responsible for program management, account management, client relationship management and service delivery management for assigned client accounts for the purpose of assisting the client in achieving greater energy efficiencies, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction, identifying and selling additional services, and delivery of all service obligations. They will be embedded within the client’s real estate or facilities team, serving as a dedicated partner to identify, plan, and execute energy management and sustainability initiatives. This role aims to reduce the organization's environmental impact, increase the use of renewable energy sources, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The role is pivotal in helping clients achieve decarbonization goals, reduce environmental impact, and improve building performance in alignment with corporate ESG priorities.
**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Account Management / Client Relationship Management**
- Acts as the primary client interface for the assigned account(s).
- Develops and builds effective relationships with clients and ensures client satisfaction.
- Manages client expectations with respect to scope definition of energy related services contained within the master services agreement.
- Conducts regular meetings with clients to understand and anticipate needs.
- Provides feedback to internal stakeholders on potential offerings for assigned account(s).
- Recommends and sells additional services based on understanding of clients’ needs.
**Service Delivery Management**
- Acts as the primary point of contact for service delivery for assigned account(s).
- Establishes key performance indicators and client expectations jointly with clients and other relevant stakeholders.
- Project manages and collaborates with relevant stakeholders to deliver services and to ensure service level agreements and key performance indicators are achieved.
- Conducts regular meetings with clients to solicit performance feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to close performance gaps relating to performance metrics, where required.
**Program Management**
- Develops, recommends and executes program plans for assigned account(s).
- Develop and maintain energy and sustainability plans aligned with client goals, including pathways to Net Zero and Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) alignment.
- Coordinate the delivery of ESG-aligned services and certifications including LEED, WELL, BOMA BEST, and Energy Star certifications.
- Oversee energy consumption, and identify opportunities to reduce energy usage. Utilize tools such as BI Analytics to monitor and manage energy consumption at the portfolio and facility level.
- Oversee energy audits, conduct utility analysis, and identify opportunities for energy reduction.
- Lead implementation of energy efficiency projects, smart building technologies, and renewable energy solutions (e.g., solar PV, EV infrastructure).
- Identifies and executes utility incentive rebate program opportunities for the assigned account(s).
- Develops clients’ understanding of energy best practices to enable achievement of greater energy efficiencies.
- Seeks input from client for possible reasons for building energy inefficiencies identified.
- Creates and implements corrective action plans in collaboration with the client and facility management operations team to address building energy efficiencies.
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies, including energy efficiency programs, waste management, and sustainable building practices.
- Lead pilot programs and innovation projects (e.g., water leak detection, zero-waste initiatives).
- Support ESG reporting by guiding the assessment, disclosure, and management of climate-related risks and opportunities.
- Develop and deliver sustainability reports for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with ISO 14001, TCFD, and other frameworks as required..
- Work closely with various departments, including Facilities, Projects, Mission Critical, capital planning, and Workplace teams, to identify and implement energy and sustainability initiatives.
