**Scope/ Purpose of the Position**
- Manage daily nursing activities for the Toronto Occupational Health Clinic;
Pre-placement Health Assessments and medical clearances/fitness to work
- Disability Management and return to work processes
- Maintenance of Aircraft Medical Kits
- Maintaining records and collecting data;
- Participation in the development, implementation, and evaluation of occupational health programs

**Key Functions & Accountabilities**:

- Implement and ensure compliance to Occupational Health Services standards and operating procedures.
- Assist departments in order to comply with occupation health legislation for specific roles (for example: health assessment, audiometric testing, visual testing, pulmonary function testing etc.).Assess employees/patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions, evaluate function (physical, mental, emotional, etc.) and fitness to return to work
- Assist other departments in return to work programs to support early and safe return to work for injured and ill employees.
- Assess work environments to identify hazards to employees and recommend measures or work to ensure accommodations are safe and productive.
- Teach, counsel employees/patients on health-related issues and implement employee health education programs.
- Collect and assess data (for example, incidents of illness, injury) to identify trends and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
- Create and maintain confidential and accurate employee health records and data.
- Order medical supplies, budget review, scheduling (patient, nurse and pre-employment medicals)
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**
- University degree or college diploma in Nursing, or equivalent.
- Current certificate of competence as a registered nurse in Ontario is required.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in the field of Occupational Health.
- Canadian Nurses Association, Occupational Health Nurse (an asset).
- Completion or in progress of a Disability management certificate/diploma and/or NIDMAR certification.
- Experience in overseeing management and administration of occupational health clinics.
- Proven Management skills;
- Experience in occupational health programs/process design and development of program metrics.
- Knowledge of occupational health & safety and compensation regulation/legislation, the Public Health Act, human rights and privacy laws.
- Experience in assessing functional abilities, disability management, fitness to work and working with return-to-work plans.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Sound judgment
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking abilities, capable of working and making timely decisions under stressful conditions.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Self motivated individual with proven organizational and counseling abilities, ability to work effectively with employees, management, unions and physicians.
- Competent PC skills using Microsoft Products: Word, Excel, Project.
- Able to work varied hours, weekends and travel by air to other stations as required. Travel 5 - 10%
