**What this role is all about**:
The Manager, Finance Projects completes complex integration projects and business case analysis and provides service excellence by ensuring that professional and accurate internal accounting services, advice, and reporting are provided in an efficient manner. Collaborates with the Finance and other Gulf & Fraser departments to seek ongoing efficiencies and process improvements to contribute to an overall superior member experience.

This is a temporary position for up to 18 months.

**What you’ll do**:
Special Projects
- Identify, guide, and drive innovation, coordinate change management, and lead successful execution of projects that are transformative to the business, enable organizational growth, and generate process efficiencies.
- Conducts special analyses and projects as directed by the AVP Controller, VP Finance, and Chief Financial Officer.
- Commits to ongoing learning and professional development by participating in training and educational programs as pertaining to this position and the overall credit union.
- Key participant in the design, development, and implementation of best-in-class system-based solutions for Finance activities, performance measurement, and portfolio analysis
- Support the development of business cases for major investment and business decision
- Provide financial analysis and support to cross-functional projects, collaborations and working groups

Leadership
- Builds and leads a cohesive team
- In partnership with the AVP Controller, Assistant Controller, and Manager, Accounting, oversees the Accounting department with a view of providing exceptional service to internal members.
- Drives operational efficiencies to maximize resources and enhance productivity.
- Collaborates with the leadership team to ensure the areas of improvement are aligned with the business needs.

Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepares various external regulatory, compliance reports, financial and statistical reports for government and regulatory agencies such as BCFSA as delegated by the Controller.
- Preparation of working papers for internal and external audit examinations for the credit union and subsidiary.
- Develops and implements new and revised accounting policies and standards in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Facilitates tax compliance (income tax, GST and PST) and identifying and evaluating tax planning opportunities.

Process Administration
- Supports the day-to-day accounting operations
- Conducts general ledger accounts reconciliation and oversight
- Assists with the monitoring of accounting systems and internal control procedures and identifies efficiencies and improvements to maintain and enhance data integrity and clarity.
- Acts as an authorized signer for the credit union and insurance subsidiary

**A little about your qualifications**:

- 5+ years’ progressive experience in accounting
- CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation
- Strong business acumen
- Strong leadership, technical and communication skills
- Project management or system integration experience an asset
- Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate
