Children’s Ministry Coordinator

**Children’s Ministry Coordinator (Summer Position) New Life Church - Milton, Ontario**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Facilitating Children’s Ministry (Birth-Grade 6)**:Plan and implement biblically grounded, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lessons for children during Sunday services and special events.
- **Discipleship and Formation**: Promote established discipleship pathways aligned with the church’s mission, encouraging curiosity, faith practices, and spiritual growth.
- **Lead a Team of Volunteers**: Support a diverse and enthusiastic team of volunteers.
- **Partner with Families**: Support and equip parents/guardians as primary disciplers by providing resources and fostering connection between church and home.
- **Foster a Safe and Inclusive Environment**: Ensure ministry spaces are welcoming and safe for all children, regardless of background or ability.

**Weekly Tasks**
- Thoroughly read and adhere to New Life Kids Volunteer Handbook
- Manage the scheduling of Kids Team Members and coordinate various Sunday morning roles including adult leaders, assistants, student helpers, check-in person, hall monitor, nursery set-up/take-down via Planning Center Services
- Promptly communicate with supervising pastor when a class is not able to open due to lack of available team members
- Act as main point of contact during the week for team schedule changes
- Become familiar with Wonder Ink digital curriculum
- Organize weekly Wonder Ink lesson plans and communicate with adult leaders by Wednesday to ensure teachers have enough prep time
- Prepare and have ready any craft materials for Sunday morning lessons
- Prepare relevant self-serve materials for Family Sundays

**Sunday Tasks**
- Float between classrooms and help to troubleshoot any issues - tech, child-related or otherwise
- If necessary, contact parents during service using digital display system
- Fill in as a teacher or adult assistant if needed (in the case of last-minute adult leader absence or if extra support is needed with a child)
- Verify parent-led nursery space is properly set up and taken down each Sunday by scheduled student helper, assist when necessary
- Set up and clean up tables, resources and signage
- Set up Sermon Time Quiet Zone (ages 3-5) in ‘Black Box’ area on Family Sundays (only when no classes are open); coordinate set up of approx. 20 chairs
- Offer ‘About My Child’ form to new families to gather pertinent info (medical concerns, allergies, children with exceptionalities); give to administrator for filing after relevant info is noted
- Contact ‘special needs assistants’ via text as needed each Sunday (currently only for youngest classroom)
- Check classrooms at the end of Sunday to ensure all New Life materials have been removed; ensure two downstairs resource rooms and one upstairs storage room are all locked
- Communicate with church administrator which classrooms were used each Sunday morning to ensure professional cleaners are aware

- Able to work well in both a team environment as well as independently
- Curious and enthusiastic about new learning opportunities
- Strong and clear communicator
- Flexible and adaptable as needs arise

**Requirements**:

- First Aid Training
- Willingness to submit a Police Check with vulnerable sector screening
