An exciting opportunity for an **Assembly and Test Technician**. This is a permanent opportunity with Qvella Corporation located in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
**Nature and Scope of Work**:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Instrument Production, the Assembly and Test Technician will be responsible for supporting daily assembly production objectives and provide technical support during prototype testing and verification phases of product development in accordance with established procedures. The incumbent will assist in the prototyping, validation, documentation and scale-up of production processes.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
- Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
- Ensure all log books are maintained according to SOPs.
- Rework and/or repair assembled devices and products according to engineering specification changes.
- Participate in the production of prototype and first production builds with a focus on test requirements.
- Execute test plans and analyze test data.
- Assist in determining the causes of failures, give suggestions for design improvements and enhancements.
- Provide feedback to other members of the design and development team.
- Identify product defects and complete appropriate non-conformance documentation accordingly.
- Maintain inventory of product in work stations.
- Assist in production Cycle Count, as needed.
- Develop preventative maintenance procedures to avoid any breakdowns and failures.
- Maintain work area as clean, safe, and orderly.
- Other related duties as required.
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- 5 years of experience with Electro-Mechanical Assembly (i.e. Assemble/disassemble/rework)
- 2-4 years of experience in development of instruments and devices, preferably in the medical diagnostics field
- Background in electro-mechanical engineering systems, with exposure to fluidics, thermal transfer, and optical systems.
- Previous experience with medical and/or Clean Room environment is an asset.
- Hands-on experience in various aspects of prototype device testing and the development of test plans and requirements.
- Working familiarity with common laboratory instruments e.g. data acquisition devices, power supplies, multimeter, oscilloscope, etc. preferred.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks, LabVIEW preferred.
- Must possess good communication and documentation skills.
- Superior problem-solving skills, strong initiative.
- Solid analytical skills
- Able to read and interpret Blue prints and drawing
- Able to utilize hand held tools and power tools
- Able to take direction and follow work orders to specifications
- Problem solver who is able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Demonstrate ability to work as a part of a team in a positive manner
- Ability to learn new tasks and become multi-skilled.
- Basic computer skills are required, familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Good written and verbal command of the English language
- Satisfactory work record, including attendance and code of conduct
**Education**:
- University or college degree in applied science, mechanical engineering or other related fields, or experience demonstrating equivalent required knowledge and competencies.
