**Position Overview**

Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure client rooms, facilities, offices and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Establishes workflows, standard procedures and quality control plans. Will assist in leading and managing subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs to ensure project/department milestones/goals are met. Creates and develops high levels of client satisfaction standards through dedication to customer service in all client interactions. The Housekeeping Supervisor will take pride in their work, possess great communication skills and instill high quality standards among the housekeeping team.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Housekeeping Operations**
- Ready willing and able to perform all duties of the Housekeepers, Laundry and Housepersons as needed
- Ensures standard operating procedures and training checklists are in place, maintained and adhered to
- Acts as an escalated point of contact for client complaints and/or issues
- Ensures housekeeping team is properly trained, motivated and focused
- Monitors client satisfaction and address feedback efficiently and effectively
- Ensures all restrooms, bedrooms, public areas and offices are well maintained
- Assists and maintains departmental inventory
- Works with various departments to determine departmental and clients needs
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complies with all security and health regulations
- Prepares and maintains required housekeeping records and reports, including financial and budget information
- Completes room inspections to ensure tasks are completed and cleaning standards are met

**Management of Staff**
- Develops, implements and maintains departmental training and/or procedure manuals
- Responsible for ensuring all staff are trained properly and complete their responsibilities correctly
- Supervises staff work load, schedules and assigned tasks
- Addresses and reports to the Housekeeping Manager staff issues or concerns i.e. absenteeism, lateness, poor performance, scheduling conflicts etc.
- Ensures staff are compliant with Larga Baffin’s policies and procedures

**Minimum Job Requirements**
- Some college/cegep/vocational or technical training in the hospitality industry
- One (1) to three (3) years of supervisory/management experience in a similar role with proven ability to lead and manage a team
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- The ability to oversee, lead and manage multiple priorities/tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Must be organized with strong attention to detail
- Must have effective time management skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions
- Must be able to lead team-building, morale and service culture within the department
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and demonstrate honesty and integrity
- Ability to life and/or carry up to 30 pounds
- Must be available for on-call work to respond to off-hours emergencies

**Knowledge and Skills**
- Previous supervisory experience in a Unionized environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience developing, monitoring and tracking budgets
- Strong knowledge of MS Office software (Work, Excel, Outlook etc.)
- Able to multi-task and prioritize
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Strong customer service skills and/or experience demonstrating professionalism, tact and diplomacy when interacting with clients, visitors and staff
- Ability to make sound decisions independently
- WHIMIS certified (or willingness to learn)

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Beneficiary status with the ability to speak Inuktitut
- University degree or college diploma, preferably in hospitality management
