**PPM Civil Constructors**, ULC (PPMCC) is a general marine contractor servicing clients in British Columbia. We specialize in complex construction, have experience in varying modes of project delivery, and excel at working in remote locations and harsh environments. We build marine infrastructure which includes docks, wharves, jetties, breakwaters, outfalls, intakes, and floats. We dredge and perform underwater material placement and excel in environmental dredging and cover placement. PPMCC is the Canadian subsidiary of Pacific Pile & Marine (PPM) who are an American general marine contractor. PPMCC and PPM are highly integrated and PPMCC has the benefit of the full support of the parent company PPM. Collectively we have projects throughout North American supported by regional offices in British Columbia (Nanaimo), Alaska (Anchorage), and the corporate office in Seattle, Washington. Together, PPMCC and PPM serve clients throughout Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Alaska, British Columbia, Mexico, and even Antarctica.

Plan, organize, execute, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget. Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates. Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overall responsibility for the safe and high-quality implementation of all construction activities.
- Implement corporate and project policies and procedures.
- Ensure all applicable safety codes, requirements and standards are complied with.
- Prepare and work to schedules, weekly work plans, construction methods and procedures.
- Determine manpower requirements and liaise with Project Manager and HR to recruit personnel.
- Schedule and co-ordinate work to be performed and monitor work achieved by each discipline.
- Co-ordinate all construction activities with Superintendents and Subcontractors.
- Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules, and the subcontract documents.
- Ensure control of materials throughout site is maintained.
- Schedule and direct engineering input into site activities.
- Report and forecast construction progress and on-site manpower.
- Review and approve subcontractors progress invoices and claims.
- Evaluate the performance of subordinates.
- Attend pre-start and debrief meetings with each separate crew under their leadership daily.
- Carry out all inspections and audits (safety and productivity) as per the minimum required KPI’s.
- Mentor subordinates toward furthering their leadership skills.
- Ensure all site systems, processes, procedures and safe work practices are utilized by all personnel.
- Provide leadership and promote the safety culture and ownership.
- Focal point for all construction reporting and progress validation.
- Promote safety, and sound environmental working practices.
- Implement the safety and environmental management systems. Ensure construction plans incorporate consideration of Safety and the Environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Trade Qualification, Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, Technology Diploma, or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
- Minimum of 10 years construction experience in project roles with similar requirements.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience a managerial or superintendent role.
- Ability to supervise, motivate and provide leadership to project staff.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with senior management, owner representatives, project staff, vendors, subcontractors, and various associates.
- Ability to organize, plan, and schedule complex construction operations. Must be able to quickly recognize and resolve problems, and to make appropriate engineering and business decisions/recommendations.
- Able to delegate and take responsibility to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently and maximizes project and individual effectiveness.
- Understanding of applicable Health and Safety legislation in British Columbia.
- Comply with Company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Experience working under Permit to Work Systems and adhering to Permit to Work conditions
- Willing to travel and temporary relocate to project worksites.
- Drug and Alcohol Testing may be a project specific requirement.
- Willing to work in the PPMCC corporate office in Nanaimo when not assigned to a project worksite.
- Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving record required to operate company vehicles.
- Experience on Oil and Gas construction projects, in excess of $50M considered an asset.
