**Job description**

New Vista Society is a not-for profit organization staffed and managed by caring people who give the best possible seniors care and provide affordable housing. We operate a 240 bed licensed, accredited residential care facility in Burnaby. We are currently looking for a permanent part-time scheduler to join our team.

**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the scheduler calls-in/allocates relief staff for designated departments and maintain all related records. The incumbent performs clerical duties related to staffing function.

**Typical duties**:

- Receives requests for relief coverage from all designated departments regarding absence from work.
- Call-ins and allocates relief staff to fill vacancies resulting from unfilled positions, vacations, leaves of absences and sick leave in accordance with policy and applicable collective agreements.
- Processes postings, shift changes, casual availability, vacations, leaves of absence and terminations by preparing appropriate documentation.
- Maintains, and reconciles with payroll, entitlement balances such as statutory holidays, vacations taken and the master rotations.
- Maintains accurate and current timekeeping records for staff; liaises with payroll regarding variances and adjustments as required; answers routine inquiries.
- Prepares, distributes to departments and posts staff schedules within agreed timelines.
- Performs clerical duties related to staffing function.

**Education, training & experience**:

- Union scheduling experience is preferred.
- Grade 12 education plus two years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must have ESP Scheduling software experience and strong working knowledge of the program

- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to operate related equipment
