**6 Month Full Time Contract - Residential Day Support Worker (Bedford) **required to join a staff team, assisting an individual with intellectual disabilities in a home environment and in the community. 40 hours per week, shifts will be Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with flexibility to work other shifts as required. **Salary**: As per the Collection Agreement, salary will start at $21.79/ hour This position is eligible for paid vacation and sick time. **Job Types**: Full-time, 6 month contract Essential Skills - Strong oral and written communication skills, team player, problem solving, empathy, planning and organizing, meal preparation, and ability to do tasks to maintain a household and assist adults with personal, recreation and social needs. Assist female with personal care needs. Enjoy being and working with people who have developmental disabilities. Share the philosophy of being with, not doing for." Have the desire and capacity to support them in ways that will enhance their personal growth, build community supports and develop relationships. Ability to work in a fast paced and active environment. Ability to handle potentially high stress situations with maturity to absorb tension. Can regulate their own emotions and behaviour when supporting individuals in heightened states of anxiety or crisis. Education: Completion of post secondary training in a related field with 1-2 year minimum years experience working with persons with disabilities. Volunteer experience an asset. Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check required. Must be able to provide proof that they are legally able to work in Canada.
