Pharmacy Veterinary Technician

Lakeshore Animal Health Partners will be located in the Greater Toronto Area and plans to offer 24/7 emergency care alongside a comprehensive array of specialty veterinary services. Animal Health Partners and VetStrategy are partnering to build Lakeshore, the second AHP location, as our next step toward that mission. We are looking to hire technicians for our Pharmacy department. Lakeshore Animal Health Partners will share many of the same amenities as the existing Animal Health Partners location in an expanded footprint. The technical proficiency and medical equipment at Toronto Animal Health Partners equal or exceed that found in many sophisticated human hospitals; our 3-Tesla MRI provides clinicians with exceptional diagnostic capabilities. Furthermore, AI-enabled software systems and our hospital design informed by veterinarians in our network, help support our clinicians by keeping their focus on delivering high-quality care to patients.

**Qualifications**:

- Pharmacy Technician diploma from an accredited Canadian college
- Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical industry or hospital experience preferred
- Demonstration of strong inventory management skills.
- Experience with stock min/max levels, ordering, returns and cycle counting
- Experience with automated drug dispensing machine
- Understanding of pharmacy operations and designated manager responsibilities
- Demonstration of excellent communication, critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills within a fast paced, complex and continually changing environment
- Demonstrated commitment to professional practice standards and quality standards in an acute care environment
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Effective negotiation and conflict management/resolution skills.
- Excellent presentation and computer skills

**Duties**:

- Accountable and responsible for all technical aspects of drug distribution such as:
1. Filling scripts

2. Purchasing and receiving drugs

3. Checking expiration dates and returning drugs for credit

4. Pre-packaging and delivering medication to the patient care areas. Documenting
and maintaining of related records

5. Prepare shipping and invoicing documents
- Manage inventory levels and perform regular cycle counts including narcotic and controlled drugs.
- Perform weekly cycle counting and replenishment of automated dispensing machine (CUBEX)
- Ability to differentiate between brand and generic drug names and understand their clinical uses.
- Adjust price of drugs (cost+markup+fee) periodically to ensure cost of medications are up to date.
- Create new drugs files with their respective accurate information
- Adjust stock periodically to reflect current inventory on hand.
- Adjust discrepancies both in the pharmacy and Cubex machine, making sure to keep accountability for anything that is not correct
- Inventory control which includes ordering, maintaining and organizing appropriate stock and packaging supplies to support dispensing activities.
- Conducts inventory audit counts.
- Perform the hospital Bi-Annual Drug Inventory Counts
- And other related duties assigned by management

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
