As agents of hope, we boldly seek solutions to seemingly insurmountable challenges, matching the determination and purpose-driven intensity of the healthcare teams we support.In the past ten years, generous donations from individuals and our corporate and strategic partners have contributed nearly $220 million dollars to advance world-leading patient care at the University of Alberta Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and Kaye Edmonton Clinic, as well as ground-breaking research at the University of Alberta.

**Your Purpose**

Under the guidance of the Director of Philanthropy, you will assume a versatile role dedicated to establishing and nurturing enduring philanthropic relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and prospects. This role centers on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major gift and planned giving prospects with a vested interest in providing financial support to the University of Alberta Hospital site. Demonstrating adeptness in soliciting individual and corporate donations through various mediums, including face-to-face meetings, telephone calls, and correspondence, is essential. As Philanthropy Officer, you will strategically coordinate efforts to advance the University Hospital Foundation's financial objectives, collaborating effectively with stakeholders across the University of Alberta Hospital, the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, and the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. This role demands both independent initiative and collaborative expertise in securing investments exceeding $10,000.

**Your Role**

As the Philanthropy Officer, your primary responsibility is to manage a diverse portfolio of approximately 175 prospects and donors, developing tailored solicitation strategies for major and planned giving initiatives, with your main focus on major gifts from individual and corporate donors, family and corporate foundations as well as granting opportunities. Your role extends to ensuring effective stewardship and recognition of donors within your portfolio while actively participating in securing significant gifts. Collaborating closely with senior staff and volunteers, you will demonstrate leadership by navigating a research-intensive hospital environment with discretion and professionalism. Your commitment to staying informed about industry trends and news will be integral to your success in generating revenue and contributing to the Foundation's annual budget. Additionally, you will manage a subset portfolio of approximately 150-175 high-capacity prospects, devising comprehensive cultivation and solicitation plans for each while maintaining meticulous records of donor interactions and progress. **Qualifications**

**Education**:

- University degree (or equivalent) in business, communications, community development or non-profit management is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation or willingness to work toward certification is an asset.

**Experience**:

- Minimum three years’ successful experience in fund development or relatable experience including donor management, cultivation, strategy development and personal solicitations.
- Proven ability to identify, research, and prioritize new major donor prospects, with comfort in contacting and cultivating relationships, alongside exceptional interpersonal skills for stewarding existing donors
- Demonstrated success in securing major or planned gifts, independently securing five+ figure gifts.
- Previous experience in healthcare is considered an asset

- Track record of effectively identifying, researching and prioritizing new major donor prospects, A high degree of comfort in identifying, contacting and developing new major gift prospects as well as superior interpersonal skills in stewarding existing donors; Demonstrated track record of major or planned gifts fundraising, including independently securing five figure gifts
- Proven skill in creating and implementing fundraising plans, including strategies for immediate and long-term growth
- Strong public speaking skills desired
- Knowledgeable in best practices and performance metrics related to fundraising and prospect research
- Demonstrates philanthropic spirit
- An outgoing, positive, group-win approach with a willingness to learn, teach and share - bringing new skills and developing one’s own skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, tact, and diplomacy with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative and successful working relationships with volunteers, staff and all donors; ability to serve as a team player and leade
