THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Director, Donor Funds & Impact, this key position is integral to the Funding Team. The Funding Officer ensures that donor funding drives meaningful impact within the health system by managing and monitoring funding through agreements, distributions, and reporting, and ensuring alignment with both the objectives of the funding sources and the strategic vision of the Foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Funding Allocation:
    Support the director in allocation of financial resources to ensure that funding aligns with the Foundation's strategic funding
  • Funding Oversight:
    Support oversight of processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant distribution of donor funds.
  • Funding Impact:
    Use data and insights about funded initiatives collected via the grant management system to ensure funding decisions and outcomes align with the Foundation's mission, demonstrate measurable impact, and identify trends that inform strategy and strengthen alignment through strong communication of results and stories of impact.
  • Funding and Donor Reporting:
    Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Funding and Partner Experience teams within the Foundation.
  • Program Evaluation:
    Implement and oversee data collection processes, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and managing databases or systems to ensure accurate and timely data reporting
  • Contract Management:
    Develop, review, and manage contracts with partner funders, funding recipients, and external vendors, ensuring compliance, clarity, and alignment with the foundation's objectives.
  • Relationship Building:
    Manage complex and high-level conversations with a diverse range of stakeholders, including partners, funders, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Project Management:
    Ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant distribution of funds while driving process improvements, tracking milestones, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Trusted confidence and credibility with internal and external stakeholders, supporting smooth communication, problem-solving, and alignment across funded initiatives.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage complex funding processes, ensure alignment with organizational strategy, and translate data and insights into actionable decisions that demonstrate measurable impact. Strong relationship management, analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance are essential to success in this mission-driven role.

Education

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Project Management, Healthcare or Science Administration. Post-secondary education in other related fields may also be considered.

Experience

  • Five to eight (5-8) years' relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Experience within a philanthropic, academic medical center, healthcare or post-secondary setting is preferred.
  • Experience with program evaluation and contract management is an asset.
  • Experience in philanthropic grant management, including familiarity with funding sources, funding and research competitions, grant administration, and liaising with funding recipients and partners' research offices in managing awarded grants.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe experience.
  • Strong technical skills in using tools such as grant management software, SurveyMonkey Apply, MS Planner, and/or MS Project.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge.
  • Accounting or legal experience is an asset.
  • Experience in process improvement- LEAN, Six Sigma experience would be considered an asset but not necessary.
