Data Specialist

**Background**:
Inner City Health Associates (ICHA) is group of more than 100 physicians working in over 50 shelters and drop-ins across Toronto. ICHA provides transitional primary care and specialist (i.e. psychiatry, substance use, and palliative care) to those who do not otherwise have access to care. We serve people who are unsheltered and temporarily living in shelters as well as those who are precariously housed. ICHA is very pleased to be expanding its interprofessional team to include nursing to offer enhanced client supports. Many of ICHA’s clients have complex health needs including untreated chronic and complex multi-system diseases, an elevated risk of acute health emergencies, and serious and persistent mental illness and substance use.

**Role Description**:
Reporting to the Population Health Program Manager and working closely with all Population Health Service. The Data Specialist will provide administrative, organizational and data collection support to the Population Health Service. They will be responsible for the coordination, collection, and distribution of data collected from our Population Health Assessment (PHA) tool.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
The Data Specialist will support the following activities:

- Support Data Analyst in building and maintaining relationships with assigned shelters and drop-in sites.
- Gather data related to PHA tool.
- Support the Data Analyst and biostatistician to operate dashboards to share with community partners.
- Develop representations of PopHealth programs and services in community dashboards.
- Maintain database and extracts data from existing and publicly available data bases to create relevant datasets for analysis and dashboard display.
- Develop documentation and protocol procedures for database development.
- Develop dashboard data summaries and representations for internal and external partners.
- Performs quality assurance checks on data collection and dashboarding to ensure accuracy.
- Response to inquiries and troubleshoot dashboard issues.
- Provide access and mediate access to dashboards.
- Support initiatives to automate data collection process and enhance data procedures.
- Collaborate with community partners to disseminate or support dissemination of information and dashboard.

**Qualifications**:

- Postsecondary education at a Bachelor’s level.
- Excellent computer skills (including Microsoft Office) and an ability to learn new systems
- Knowledge and experience using Excel.
- Experience with marginalized populations with complex health and social service needs is highly desired.
- Open minded, non-judgmental with a commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of all people and respecting their diversity.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians and as a member of a broad inter-professional health team.
- Solid organizational and time management skills; ability to support and communicate with multiple shelter sites concurrently, continuously identifying and addressing competing priorities in a timely and effective manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality record.

**Salary**: $32.50 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
