**Employment Opportunity - Communications Officer**:
**Duties**
- **Strategic Coordination**: Collaborate closely with the primary constituency offices and Parliament Hill office to align on shared priorities, ensure consistent messaging, and maintain a seamless flow of communication.
- **Media Awareness**: Stay informed on local media issues, emerging trends, and community events to anticipate opportunities or challenges.
- **Community Engagement**: Attend and document community events alongside the Member, capturing high-quality photos and ensuring coverage aligns with the Member’s objectives.
- **Event Strategy and Execution**: Lead the development, planning, and implementation of the Member’s events strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and community expectations.
- **Media Relations and Writing**: Draft press releases, letters to the editor, media advisories, and other statements while cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with local media outlets.
- **Digital Presence Management**: Oversee and enhance the Member’s social media platforms and website content to maintain an impactful and engaging public profile.
- **Advertising and Budgeting**: Identify advertising opportunities, coordinate office advertisements, and work closely with the Parliamentary Assistant to ensure adherence to the advertising budget and schedule.
- **Communication and Engagement Planning**: Develop and implement comprehensive communication and social media strategies, including a media engagement plan to strengthen stakeholder connections, elevate the Member’s visibility, and boost public engagement.
- **Content Creation**: Produce monthly digital newsletters, design and oversee the distribution of print materials, and develop content for speeches, House of Commons statements, letters of support, and other events involving the Member.
- **Administrative Support**: Perform general office administration, including managing telephone reception, maintaining an organized filing system, and ensuring efficient office operations.
- **Team Collaboration**: Foster a cooperative and collaborative work environment across all staff members to achieve shared goals effectively.
- **Flexible Availability**: Maintain readiness to work evenings and weekends as required to support the Member’s commitments.
- **Correspondence and Database Management**: Oversee correspondence, track responses, and maintain accurate and up-to-date databases for efficient service delivery.
- **Constituent Casework**: As needed, manage constituent case files, conduct outreach on federal matters, and resolve concerns while upholding confidentiality and professionalism.

**Qualifications**:

- A degree in Communications, Business, Journalism, Public Relations, or other relevant sector
- 3 years minimum experience in a communications role
- Fluently Bilingual in both French and English oral and written preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills and ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high stress environment
- Previous office experience and working with the public is essential
- Previous media relations experience an asset
- Knowledge of government departments and community organizations
- Proficiency with Publisher, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Facebook, X and other social media handles
